A 2nd and a 3rd from a rebuilding team for a cap dump. MAYBE a 2nd and 3rd with Brodie for Chicago to take his cap hit, but even then, I doubt it.

Or, Leaf land would just beat them to a bloody pulp in the forums and media every time they make the smallest mistake, and they would become pariah's.

Their legacies are already as secure as they could possibly be in CHI. There has never been a doubt about that.

CHI isn't paying for Brodie, either.

I would definitely agree with you, but it would help get this issues with CHI off their backs. I would also hope that if they would take a team friendly deal leaf land would have some grace... but I think we all know that wouldn't happen

Not hating but, how are their legacies not already secured? 3 cups, both have a Conn, Olympic Gold and Silver medals, I'd consider that pretty secure

Maybe. One year "prove it" deals, in a sense. But, i'm almost positive Toews is done in the NHL. This Chronic Immune Response Syndrome stuff is pretty serious. There is no doubt in my mind that, if his immune system and body weren't compromised from COVID-19, he would play for at least a handful more years, though.

Brodie isn't a cap dump and would bring back more at the deadline

With retention maybe but not from a rebuilding team. Nobody has the cap for brodie and Toronto certainly isn't taking on any cap dumps just to move him.

Remember when way worse defenceman than Brodie went for a 1st literally every year at the deadline. Brodie would get you more than this at the deadline as a rental. This is asset management. Get him to help you for the first few months and flip him at the deadline to a contender.

Yeah, with Toews I just don't think anyone has any confidence that he can actually play a full season anymore. But the fact that he didn't take the hint and retire suggests that he thinks he can, so someone will end up giving him a shot.

Worse defensemen went for more because they were cheap. Bodies isn't cheap. And if he's helping Toronto why would Toronto trade him at all. Wouldn't they want to be a contender

Can you imagine how pissed off Matthews would be if they keep Brodie/Nylander going into the season and then traded them away at the TDL...SELLING at the TDL.

TOR's in a tough spot. Them being good is good for the game. Doesn't mean it's not a tough spot.

-Vegas doesn't feel like a landing spot for Jarnkrok - they've got some room with Lehner on LTIR, but devoting 60% of that space to a 3rd liner feels like a weird use of assets.

-I don't see the sense for Chicago to pay this much for a veteran in his walk year. Vancouver's pick is likely to be in the first half of the 2nd, and Ottawa is probably mid-3rd - would you give up a low-40s and low-80s pick for the *possibility* that you might get a late-20s pick? Because, remember, Brodie could turn into a pumpkin and completely tank his value playing on a rebuilding team at 33 years old - or worse, he could get injured. The difference in value between picks #40OA + #80OA and #28OA is the equivalent of a mid/late-4th rounder - wouldn't it just make more sense for the Blackhawks to sign a guy like Nick Ritchie or Tyler Motte for $1M and flip them out at the deadline for that type of draft capital instead?

-3rd for retention works, but think you need more than just a warm body with that 2nd to get the Flames to move Zadorov. Nothing big, but someone with more NHL potential than Rifai.

I have mixed feelings about moving Brodie. On one hand Brodie is the Leafs best defensive defenceman but on the other hand they could use more physical guys on the back end. Maybe they move Brodie to add some mean

What are you even talking about? The leafs are not moving Nylander or Matthews. They would move Brodie so they can add a more physical defenceman but that's about it. And whoever is smart could get brodie so they can flip him for more at the deadline. But you clearly hate the Leafs more than you like Chicago so there is no reason here. Just you justify why you can get Nylander for basically nothing

Like I've said many times. I wanted the Leafs to win last year AND I'm open to taking on Brodie. What's your offer?

I disagree with that. Gudas is a side show and is too old and needed term. Klingberg is going to do very well under Keefe. But they definitely need some toughness added to the Blueline
