Most likely he will end up there by the New Year Eve timeframe. My personal change is I liked Laine on the second line unless it was crunch time late in the 3rd then make a superline. I really like the idea of splitting up Johnny and Laine to allow a constant threat on the top 2 lines and Marchenko is slowly developing into the league's best kept secret with finishing.

Did Larsen ever really play Johnny and Laine together even when Laine was healthy? Didn't seem like it.

He did but at the end of the year Marchenko pretty much took over that role around Trade Deadline.. The JG-Boone-Marchenko line was buzzing near the end of that AHL team though.

I'm too lazy to look it up. I know there was that quote from him during training camp that it was a "no-brainer" to put them together but then Laine immediately got hurt, and by the time he got back everything had already fallen to ****. Wasn't sure if it was lack of chemistry with Laine that led to the Marchenko swap, but it did seem to work better with them separated.
