A 2nd is a nice pice for a rebuilding Hawks team, but Stanley despite his draft position at this point looks like a bottom pairing/AHL tweener. For the Hawks to consider this, you probably need to swap out Stanley for one of Lambert or Salomonsson....something that would actually excite a rebuilding team.

The real problem is this trade does nothing for the Blues. They pick up a 26 yo winger who wont make the lineup with the depth the Blues have on the wing and a very good LHD defense prospect but we have LHD coming out our ears currently. If we trade Parayko we have to have a way to get his replacement either via player in return or draft pick

To dump 10+ million in cap (and to the Hawks....Schmidt is nothing but a cap dump pure and simple), you are going to have to actually give up something unpleasant to make it happen. If you are retaining a couple million, the initial proposal might fly....at full cost that is not even close to interesting for the Hawks who have plenty of option on how to spend cap space.
