Lafreniere - 91pts in 216 games: BUST
Byfield - 33 points in 99 games: Proven top line player

Disregarded the cap situation response completely, and I have asinine logic? Kopitar and Kempe had banner years playing with the still developing Byfield who is still on an ELC as is Kaliyev.

We cannot afford Lafreniere, nor does he replace the playmaking and defensive ability of Byfield (nor his potential as a #1 C). We will continue to develop Byfield, which I understand as a Rangers fan, development is a difficult term to understand.

Byfield's game (and points) drastically improved when he was put on the top line halfway through the season. It was very encouraging to see. Now if he could just pot a couple more instead of only being a playmaker.... but that's hopefully to come.

Any possible deal with Laf and Byfield would definitely have to help LA address their cap issues in some way. They need to shed cap, not add it after PLD.
