Good Draft from Chicago

Créé par: BrodeurBro30
Équipe: 2023-24 Blackhawks de Chicago
Date de création initiale: 28 juin 2023
Publié: 28 juin 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
It was obvious Bedard was going 1OA. I must say I really like Oliver Moore at 19. I didn’t expect him to be there and he’ll be a great building block for the rebuild. The Hawks leave the draft with their Top 2 centers of the future. I figured 19 was going to be used for a winger/center, but you can’t pass on Moore. Best part is Cristall is still on the board. If GM Kyle Davidson scoops him up at 35, this would be a slam dunk draft.

Very good draft for Chicago. Bedard was a no brainer. Getting the best skater in the draft with their 2nd 1st round pick, was a very nice win as well.

I like Moore a lot, but would have taken Perreault personally. Perreault and Bedard could be the next McDavid and LD combo. That said, not upset at all with Moore as he's a heck of pick at #19.

I would love to see Cristall tomorrow and also Jayden Perron with one of our other 2nds.

Moore has 1C upside. Even though he was on the USDP 2nd line, he’s an excellent skater and loves to elevate his linemates.

It's hard to judge since I haven't seen most of these kids play. But on paper, a big head scratcher is Minnesota taking Stramel at 21, instead of Perrault. Perrault dropped 132 pts in 63 games, which was more than his teammates Will Smith and Leonard, who went 4th and 8th. (pts aren't everything of course). Where Stramel only put up 12 pts in 33 NCAA games. Stramel is MASSIVE at 6'3, 222 lbs, but that to me means that he is already in his man body and couldn't produce. I get that he is also a local but that should be a tie breaking factor, not a main factor.

On paper this Minnesota pick doesn't make sense to me. They should have gone with Perrault.

That's my rant of the draft haha

Yea, I liked Perreault too. I just think Davidson wants to build this team down the middle. There’s nothing wrong with that and getting a guy like Moore (who was slipping in the draft) is A+ work by GM Davidson. You need players who can play with everyone and elevate your linemates and Moore is that guy.

Reinbacher will be a heck of player. Without taking team needs, just pure talent, don't think I'd take Moore over Reinbacher. I'm shocked how far Perreault slipped...all the way to #23 is crazy

Yeah 23 is crazy. I’m not high on Reinbacher. I think he will be a 4 D. Pretty bad for a 5 overall

Yeah, but Strammal has size and speed and he looks to be a heck of 2 way forward. I would for sure take Perrault over him but Strammal should be a heck of a player himself.

I think he has #2 upside with #4 downside...agree at that 5th that it's too much risk. Michkov is too good to pass up and Leonard is another one I would have easily taken over Reinbacher

Just imagine we got Leonard at 7, Perreault at 22, Gulyayev at 31 and Cristall/Hrabal at 37 instead of Reinbacher and Newhook

Minnesota went for position over BPA. We all knew the Wild were in the hunt for a big center with a 2 way game and can do board work for Kaprizov. Don’t know if Stramel is that guy, but you just can’t pass on Perreault. I will say this, the Rangers are a place for prospects to die. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s traded and pops off elsewhere.

If these moves don’t pan out in favour of Kent Hughes, he’s going to be heavily scrutinized by fans and many will look back to this draft as a massive letdown and lost opportunity. I like the Hutson - Reinbacher pair, but there was better on the table.

I think with pick 35,you have to select the best player available and Cristall has the highest upside of the ones remaining. Make Bedard happy and get his boy.

With the following picks, I think Chicago needs to add size and depth to the Right Side.
So I'd be looking at
Carson Rehkopf
Anton Wahlberg
Danny Nelson
Max Strabek

See I like the Stramel pick, sure probably not at 21. But Stramel is a good pick for a playoff team. Big physical player that can be a net front presence. In the long run, he's going to be a role player for the wild in the middle 6. He reminds me of a lot of Adam Lowry, and teams need role players like that.

I wanted Perreault at 19, Moore was my 2nd choice, but it's hard to complain in this deep draft. Hawks have their 1-2C punch for the next 15 years with those two, and if either one needs to transition to wing, Reichel/Nazar can also play C. The top end speed Moore has is exciting, I'll take that Dylan Larkin comp all day at 2C. Slam dunk for the Hawks.

Yea, you can’t miss with either. I think Moore makes more sense though. They wanted to secure the Center positions and build down the middle. Never say never with Perreault though! The Rangers are a graveyard for prospects. The Hawks could buy him in a Dach-esque deal down the road.

I like Cristall and Wahlberg tomorrow for sure. Jayden Perron is going to go late 2nd or 3rd round, so hopefully he's around with the last 2 2nd round picks and they grab him...kid has a lot of upside.

I was rooting hard for Perrault but definitely not going to complain about Moore.

GM Kyle Davidson agrees with our assessment. He was trying to trade up to select him. I’m so surprised he fell to 19. A+ pick, A- draft for Davidson. Only thing that prevents an A was getting a 3rd 1st. I understand Perreault was there, but you can’t pass on a guy who was going higher than Perreault in every draft, arguably the best skater in the draft, and is known for playing with everyone and elevating his linemates. It’s very clear Chicago wants to build a team off speed and transition.

Tank year was justified. It feels good to finally start seeing the light. We will look back at this draft as the turning point of this franchise.
