Appreciate the creativity, but I don't see us moving an established player like Kaprizov for a pick - even if the assumption is that whoever we take at 3 would be a star NHL'er.

I actually think Anaheim is a better partner for this than Columbus. Columbus is in a similar spot to the Wild in terms of centers and 3OA gives them the opportunity to fix that problem. Anaheim already has Zegras and McTavish, do they really need Fantilli...? They could definitely use a winger for Zegras, though, and Kaprizov would be perfect. They also have the cap space to absorb his contract.

Look at that lineup though! Show me a team that can match up with those lines!

The Jackets have 6 untouchables, unless they are bringing back a legitimate star 1C under 25 with term (of which there's maybe 7 or 8?): Werenski, Jenner, Johnson, Jiricek, Texier (for human reasons), and 3OA.

Kaprizov would be fun, but both teams say no.

I have thought about Kaprizov to Anaheim for a while now. It makes sense if they want to jumpstart their rebuild AND if they are confident he will resign with them.

I get the issue with trading an established superstar for an educated guess…makes a ton of sense! My reasoning to consider moving Kaprizov is this; I am very hesitant to sign a 29 y/o to an 8 year contract and that is probably the only contract Kaprizov would consider from the Wild. Considering the way Kaprizov plays…I have a tough time seeing that contract aging well…
