Seeing as how no nobtle NHL talent wants to play in Canada anymore (Thanks Trudeau) unless they are grossly over paid, I think its time for Canadian clubs to lock up their prospects that they deem a fit for the franchise on long term deals asap. For get about bridge deals. Canadian clubs dont have the leverage to use that unfortunately. As soon as your 22/23 yr old prospects entry level deal comes up, sign em to a 7-8 year deal. Get their best young years out of em. Draft at 18, return to junior, next season at 19, sent to the minor, pro at bottom or bottom pairing at 20 for a couple seasons, make the assemsment by 22 and lock em up until 30-31 when they are RFAs at 22/23
