Jets are looking to blow it up (or at least they should). Couple big trades made involving major pieces on their roster, I wrote in the description of the trade my thoughts, let me know if you think they are fair/realistic. Also a couple of minor free agent signings/re-signings. After trading Hellebuyck, they needed a starting goalie, so I gave Alex Lyon some money from Florida. With them having Bobrovsky & Knight, they have no room for Lyon, so the Jets give him good money to come here and be a starter.
Overall theme of this is making room for younger players to play more prominent roles:
-Perfetti on line 1 center
-Turcotte on line 2 center
-Gustafsson on line 4 center
-Heinola in the top 4
-Samberg a regular in the lineup
Berdin as the backup
Kings add a gritty player who is tough to play against. They also feel ok giving up a 1st next year because Dubios comes with a deal in place. Also, giving up on Turcotte feels wrong as he is so young, but it seems like other young Kings prospects have passed him on the depth chart, and if it can get them a player like Dubios, I think it's worth it.
Jets have no leverage in this move, but still get a very solid return. Turcotte could flourish with a change of scenery in Winnipeg, Also, some other American prospects (Lucius, McGroarty) could be a nice future for Winnipeg.
Winnipeg retains salary to make Scheifele a 3 million dollar player. Bruins have a stacked team as shown with their regular season last year, but I think they fell short because their centerman aren't good enough anymore. I think Bergeron & Krejci are good, but are at the age where they can't be expected to play at that high of level for 82 games plus a deep playoff run. I think Scheifele comes in and takes a lot of pressure off of those guys, and Boston is a hockey market that I could see him liking, and signing long term.
Again, Winnipeg without much leverage here, but they get some young pieces. In my opinion, the major piece here is Carlo. Would immediately step in to a top 2 role alongside Morrissey, and would be a great fit for the Jets.
Buffalo is looking to compete, and they trade off some valuable assets for an established goalie that will help them do just that. Hellebuyck is a top 5 goalie in most people's eyes, and would immediately make the Sabres a playoff team I think. Buffalo also has a deep prospect pool with lots of young, high end players on their roster, so losing these assets hurts, but is not detrimental for them.
Jets capitalize on the value of Hellebuyck and get some great value in return to kick start this rebuild. Savoie is a high end prospect who played a lot of junior in Winnipeg, and could be a cornerstone piece for them moving forward. Reminds me a bit of Barzal.

Panthers reunite Wheeler and Maurice with this move. As a team that needs cap space, I'm not sure they do this, but just for the sake of this Jets rebuild I'll say they will lol
Jets retain on Wheeler, and basically swap picks with Panthers to get this done. Either a buy-out, or doing something like this is I think the only option for the Jets with this contract.

Ducks have plenty of mid round picks in the next few drafts, and Elliot Friedman on his podcast mentioned that he thinks the Ducks are looking to add some toughness to their lineup as he feels they get pushed around too much. Dillon helps with that, doesn't cost much, and is a UFA at seasons end, so not much long term risk involved with this.
Jets retain a bit of salary here because as they enter this rebuild, they will have lots of cap space, even after retaining on Wheeler. Jets also have a lot of LHD ready to make more of an impact on the team, and I think Dillon is someone who could realistically have a market for him. I think either him or Schmitt needs to be moved, but there would be no market for Schmitt with his contract, so they opt to get some value back for Dillion.

Lightning are in need of a shut down guy, and they see some potential in former 1st round pick, Logan Stanley. Comes with a cheap extension, as well as not giving up much value, the Lightning seem like a team that could help Stanley's development, and he could help them on their bottom pair.
Has requested a trade out of Winnipeg, and again, with lots of LHD, Jets look to honour that request. Not much value, but they stock up on some late round picks to help them potentially navigate the the board and take some chances on prospects.
I initially thought that too, but there seems to be a market for them! Which I'm happy about lol
Is there are market for them? Or is just reporters trying to relevant and churn up trade talk so they can keep their jobs? The Jets ownership probably doesn't want to go into full tank mode until season ticket holders have renewed for 23/24.. I'm with you, I hope the Jets get a good return for these players and kinda start anew in 24/25....with cap and some new blood.
Right now, the Jets are "competing" with UFAs. So team might want to complete their rosters with UFAs, instead giving assets to the Jets. Closer to TDL, there isn't the UFA competition and the cap for hight priced players is lower for teams to fill their roster
I think you're way over valuing Carlo, but that's ok, I know I have a bias towards my teams too. Just interesting to see what other fans think. What's a reasonable return for Scheifele in your eyes? I just think the Bruins could use top center that isn't pushing 40
Here is the trouble with Boston trade. Bruins can sign Bergeron for 3m, and not give up anything. Carlo would be way too much. He's great value at 4m with term.

Very true. I just see them reporting Vilardi, Iafallo, potentially Byfield, picks from LA for Dubios which I feel like most combinations of those guys is more valuable that I put for my trade. I just hope they actually rebuild and not lose them all for nothing
So you don't see a need for a younger centerman who can help them right now?
Depends on 37. If he returns, no, not this year.
If he doesn’t, yes, but not Scheifele. Younger as in 25 or younger. They need a long term solution, not a temporary plug entering age 30. If that’s the route they go Lindholm much better option. And it still won’t be Carlo. 🤷🏻♂️

All true, but Boston is a top team that could benefit from Schiefle IMO. What would they give up for another run at a cup? Picks?

You're right...teams that aren't gong to make the playoff or maybe should be bare playoff teams should be sellers at some point. I know folks are obsessed with trading PLD to Montreal, but now even for one year or at TDL for few month he will have value in a trade from some team
Many Leaf fans are going nuts because if they Leafs don't resign Matthew and Nylander they will lose them "for nothing". I look at differently. Well you have a Cup run with those two guys, and they don't resign as UFAs, well the Leafs have 22m in cap they have allowed for those two guys and just acquire other players.

No one reputable is reporting that's the return. Absolutely no one is saying that Byfield is included (they walked away from trade talks for Eichel or Chychrun because teams wanted him).
