Don't think St. Louis even considers that.

Yeah that's a no for the blues. Not trading Snuggerud for 1 year of Nylander. Our biggest weakness is our defense and center depth. Trading our #2 center for more wingers makes little sense at all

I think this trade works because Nylander is five years younger and he can still be elite when the Blues complete their retool. Blues can re-sign him easily. Schenn won't be as effective by the time the Blues can compete for a cup again so holding onto him is not the best idea.

Send us Timmins or Brodie and the Canucks will be pretty happy with that for Garland I think.

The issue more lies within moving Snuggerud than Schenn. Not to mention Schenn is probably the closest thing we have to a leader at this point. Also, unless Nylander is a full time center there is just no way to consider this. Signing Nylander is probably doable, and he’s a great player. But we can’t jam ourselves up on the cap, trade an A prospect, have to try and negotiate a contract with a guy and not have any center depth and no fix to the defense at the same time.

I think the management group in Vancouver like the idea of cap space above anything else right now. They want to shop on July 1st.

Sorry, more silliness basing a trade on "Blue can resign him easily". Reall?. Upcoming UFAs can sign with any team they want. If it's so easy, the Leafs can keep Nylander and Matthews too.

Yes they can. With the cap going up by quite a bit in a few years the Leafs can definitely extend Nylander at 8-9 million.

    But should they?

I think spreading out that money throughout the lineup would be a better way forward.

Again it gives us another winger and takes away a center from us. We already have a lot of wingers and not enough centers and our defense isn't that good. It's a waste of cap space and assets to go after Nylander and trade our best prospect

Uhh Schenn is a C. And they already need at least one C as is.

Dude, the Blues would not give Snuggerud by himself for Willy. This is pure fantasy land stuff.

This is a very weak UFA class and the canucks have 8 mil in cap space to work with. Not trading a good player for nothing

I don't even know who that guy is. He's just a name out of a hat.

Nylander just put up 40 goals and is eyeing 50 next year. He's worth multiple 1sts and prospects.

Garland is more tradeable than Boeser and the Canucks need to free space even more because 8 mil is not enough to get a 3C and two more top 4 D. The Leafs are doing the Canucks a big favour by doing this trade.

First of all, Snuggerud is an A+ prospect typically rated between 9th and 15th among all drafted prospects. The Leafs don't cuurently have a prospect that comes close to his value. The fact that you don't even know who he is says everything.

Secondly, Willy is a UFA. In other words, you're dreaming, pal.

You may be right. The big reason to trade Garland is to reallocate the resource though. Brodie would be in our top 4. And Timmins is young enough with potential plus the cap savings that id like that too.

This free agency class is extremely weak. I’m not even convinced that there are even 2 top 4 D willing to sign the Vancouver anyway
