Sharks are giving up the better pick and the better prospect…I’d ask for another piece from MTL

I could see this happening but without the prospect swaps. IMO there about on the same level, so teams wouldn't include a pretty useless prospect swap

Agreed, take that out and it makes a lot of sense. I also dont want the sharks to take Smith over Michkov so I would perfer this outcome

Why would MTL trade up to take the worse prospect (Smith over Michkov) ?

Sharks easily decline. Bordeleau is NHL ready and by far the better prospect. Imo its not even close.

Roy could end up a 2nd line winger, which is what i assume Bordeleau will become, as he's 5'10 175 he's not gonna be a C. imo Roy just seems better at their age. WJC he also played really good.

Because Kent Hughes really wants him? We know MTL has no desire to take Michkov and they probably love smith.

Would it be enough to make this deal idk, but we know you arent taking Michkov

Yep I based the prospect swap based on the type of player each GM might want. Grier is looking for more size and “in your face” hockey which Bourdeleau doesn’t quite supply. He’s a great player with 1PP upside but probably sticks in the middle 6 for most of his career.

I mean I don't think Bords is way better of a prospect than Roy, but using only there age isn't a great argument.

Roy is nasty and was fantastic at the World Juniors, but Bords was an AHL all star in his first pro season. If i'm the Sharks I'm 100% keeping him given how thin they are at Center in their prospect pool and yes Bordeleau has already shown he can hang at the NHL level. That's huge .

Again I disagree that Bords is way better, but Sharks would be better off with him

I was sarcastic, both are really good prospect
I just don’t understand why MTL would trade assets to get a worse prospect
Because talent wise : Michkov > Smith
If we get Michkov at 5, great, we got a top 3 talent of the draft at 5. If Michkov is getting draft higher, then we have a sure thing in Carlsson/Smith
