A lot of cap gymnastics

Description
maybe some of the money figures are off, but I don't think this is completely unrealistic.

Blackwood gets non-tendered and walks
Bratt gets paid a good amount with an opportunity to get another payday
Meier is definitely getting over 9 per year
No room for Sharangovich so I threw him into colton trade as an inexpensive forward for them, might be different pick swap
Haula will get a raise but I cant see it being more than 3 mill. his previous AAV was 2.375
mcLeod get paid nicely for a 4C, also might be involved in Hockey Canada investigation (not confirmed)
Boq, Bahl, Bastian, Walsh wont cost that much, maybe Bahl/Bass get more?
I believe Nemec is ready and will play in NHL next year. his cap hit REALLY helps them
They might sign vets to league mins on tryouts too but idk who they would target

Fitz really has his work cut out for him. Glad I'm not him

UPDATE: considering a lot of you mutants on here are going bananas over this colton trade and nothing really else, i say this isn't that bad. some of yall are acting like this is the most lopsided trade in NHL history FFS

If Colton would sign that, why wouldn't he sign it in TB? That's not much more than Yegor would get.

Easy decline for Tampa. The pick means nothing and Sharangovich wouldn't be much in cap savings and a downgrade. If Colton gets traded, and N.J. is interested, Tampa should get a piece or two they actually need, and that works for their cap. They need a cost controlled LD for the 3LD spot this coming season and a bottom 6 F or F prospect that could challenge for a spot. Bahl+Boqvist for Colton+mid round pick or B prospect is what Tampa would probably do. If not Boqvist(if it looks like Tampa couldn't fit him), then there's probably a decent F prospect that Tampa might sub. In any case, if the Devils aren't willing to move Bahl, I and many Tampa fans don't see a trade involving Colton.

This right here is the problem with all the Colton to NJ ACGM y'all think you're entitled or something. Like TB is just going to do it because we want him he's from f***ING jersey.

Bahl or pound sand Brisebois laughs in Fitzgerald's face at this offer. It's utterly worthless to TB.

These are interesting takes between two players who don’t have much separation between them.
Their traditional stats are almost identical in their 3 seasons
Advanced stats and microstats tend to *slightly* favor Colton, with Dom’s model having them tied is GSVA. Definitely not more of a mid rounder of difference though.

We can make a play to bring Colton home when he hits UFA. Until then, there are plenty of worthwhile alternatives.

Here en lies the other problem Colton is most likely in Killorns spot in the top six. Not some bottom 6 guy and signing him is probably a priority. ****You too ******"

Carter Verheaghe was just a bottom 6 guy in TB Jonathan Marchessault was just a bottom 6 guy in TB Taylor Raddysh same all playing top 6. Colton is better than all of them. This is a TB thing. So you need to relax bud!

Colton over the last 2 seasons 1.14 goals per 60
Sherengovich .95
Substantially better Colton.

Yea, with Colton also having a higher than sustainable PDO, and Sharangovich having a lower PDO. That would suggest Colton’s g/60 will likely have a negative regression while Sharangovich’s will have a positive regression

Ok tell yourself whatever you want. He's just lucky 🙄 anything to promote the garbage narrative. So, you're basically saying Colton is going to regress his scoring going from Vlad Namestnikov, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare as linemates to having Steven Stamkos and Anthony Cirelli? That's the crap you're trying to sell?

That’s literally how PDO works though. Colton had over 1.000 qwhich is considered lucky, while Sharangovich had under 1.000, which is considered unlucky. Colton likely still ends up the better player when regressions hit both, but not substantially.

And that’s not never including the other parts of hockey apart from goal scoring

You often make your own luck with skill and effort. That also doesn't take into account he'll be going from Vladdy and PEB. 4th liners to Stamkos and Cirelli top 6 all day which means playing with more talented players will give him better chances. Better chances more goals, more rebounds also which also means more assists he puts Hagel numbers up given the minutes.

Using that logic, RNH is more skilled and gives more effort than Brayden Point, which just isn’t true.

Ok all hail the imaginary all mighty analytics gods their all powerful. Stop . Analytics says it so it's 1,000,000,000 % set in stone 🙄. Watch a player.
Unless you believe playing with Stamkos and Cirelli over Bellemare and Namestnikov isn't going to give him better scoring opportunities this he's going to regress theory is really I'll be polite and say foolish.

It’s literally just simple math between shooting% and save%… imagine not using all of the data points given to you. Analytics by no means are the full story either, which is why I cited analytics, and traditional stats initially, which do show a player who is not substantially better than the other

Sherengovich has .6 goals/82 games while playing 3:35/ game more . So the mpg difference Colton would have to play 24 more games to have the same amount of minutes as Sherengovich to score .6 goals . It's not nearly as close as you think. Compare apples to apples. Again your PDO doesn't take linemates into account even if he were "extremely lucky " having better linemates will produce better quality scoring chances you should in theory score a higher %of correct? So reduce the luck factor while increasing the quality factor there really shouldn't be much difference if any. You also again cherry picked your conventional stats when you average.6 goals per 82 more it looks the same if you dig deeper and realize every 4games Sherengovich plays Colton had to play 5 +to get the same minutes. Making those numbers misleading.

You aren’t comparing apples to apples though. A majority of that difference coming with Sharangovich playing on the PK, while getting 6% of the PP ice time that Colton gets on average.

Per Rotowire

Yeezy:
Average Time On Ice:
14:25
Average Power Play TOI:
0:05
Average Short-Handed TOI:
2:00

Colton:
Average Time On Ice:
12:21
Average Power Play TOI:
1:16
Average Short-Handed TOI:
0:00

Colton is also deployed more often for offensive zone starts than Sharangovich, even with the more limited toi, putting Colton in more favorable positions to score more often.

Per Natural Stat Trick

Colton Yeezy
185 Off. Zone Starts 161
250 Neu. Zone Starts 197
136 Def. Zone Starts 146
755 On The Fly Starts 936
57.63 Off. Zone Start % 52.44
284 Off. Zone Faceoffs 280
334 Neu. Zone Faceoffs 269
261 Def. Zone Faceoffs 292
52.11 Off. Zone Faceoff % 48.95

Those metrics tell me that Sharangovich, while with increased TOI, is deployed in more defensive situations than Ross Colton

Oh I didn’t see your edit

Basically both players are mid. Colton is slightly less mid. Thinking otherwise is just incorrect when looking at traditional and advanced stats.
