Don’t hate it. But not sure NY does that trade and min probably matches because his value is higher than a 2nd
And cost wise it’s just smarter to keep Labanc and Murray even if they wind up buried in the AHL! Just means more money next year to build a team around a much stronger prospect pool!

I don't think Detroit considers Karlsson an option unless it's for cheap. This isn't cheap.

A 100 point 3x norris winner is not coming cheap.

Like Karlsso is going to waive for a derelict hellscape like Detroit in the first place.

> SJS fan dissing Detroit.

Think it's moreso that EK65 is old and does not fit our timeline. He's a phenomenal winger at defense, but he's old.

Exactly to the first part, Detroit isn't interested in EK, and the Sharks will get a better deal elsewhere

As for the second, do people think the players are forced to live on 8 Mile or something? The "Detroit bad" takes are exhausting

Wonder if everyone who goes to LA/SJS has to live on Skidrow.

Its not a judgment on the people of Detroit. But a take on many american cities that are being held together by scotch tape and string.

St Louis, Portland, Milwaukee etc. again, not an insult to the people of Detroit.

Detroit is quite literally rebounding and on the uprise. Slower than it should be (thanks Chris Illitch!), But it is still on the upwards.

I think if we got two firsts for EK we would do it for that retention. Detroit gets a good player we get draft capital and cap space. Cap will go up and our roster doesn't have any huge renewals coming up

Most of these cities started to see a resurgence pre-COVID. Obviously, that event slowed things down, but many of these cities that were brutal in the '80s are resurging.

That retention on Karlsson makes him a very attractive option however, this MIGHT be too rich for the Wings to pull the trigger although certainly worth consideration.

Post-covid a lot of major cities are facing complications they have never seen before. The morons in office called Covid unprecedented, really though the unprecedented part is the result of lockdown. Almost all of my favorite bars and businesses in Chicago are nonexistent now. My ex moved to St Louis and I visited her there last year and it is rough. I used to go to Movement festival annually and I personally find Detroit interesting but multi-millionaire athletes have a different perspective.

Detroit is probably on path to be competitive before SJ but not much quicker. So hockey wise…I digres, were not good trading partners. Sorry if I came off as harsh toward the D. It was not supposed to be a front to Detroiters.

Multimillionaire athletes would live in Bloomfield Hills, which is one of the richest towns in the country.
Check out the high school called Cranbrook; more expensive than a LOT of universities. Met the parents of a former teammate of Andrew Copp who said they moved there to play for their High School/AAA.

There's also the Boston-Edison district which, although isn't in the best of places, is essentially a modern day millionaires' row.
