The pick is definitely going the wrong way in the MTL deal especially if they are retaining on both players for 2 years.

Take a look at the Sharks depth chart and see why we wouldn't trade RD for LD. Especially not a guy who is 2 years older, and signed for one less year. A 4th and 5th don't really make up the difference there. Merill seems like a cool dude, but I don't think we trade half of our NHL level RD's to acquire him.

I don’t see San Jose doing either trade. No retention on Ferraro and maybe that works. Benning has a steal of a contract, I don’t see them moving him without a nice pick coming back

Dude, that's just objectively false. Connor is closer to Kaprizov than Fiala. I would seriously suggest to start paying attention to other teams other than Minnesota if that's your take on the guy.

That said, he's not worth half that. There's no scenario where he gets BOTH Rossi and Khusnutdinov. It's one or the other. Minnesota isn't giving up both of their top center prospects for any winger or player that isn't a Matthews/McDavid/McKinnon level center.
