Description
stolen ideas from other posters.....

lots of youth with a top/high end prospect at every position, at least one youngster on every line and lots of somewhat reclamation projects: Lefreniere, Jokiharju, roslovic....and cap space.

And if some of these guys arent the right fit, (Roslovic, Jokiharju, etc...) they can de dealt (and PHI could retain)

Its about playing the youth, getting more draft capitol, acquiring more quality prospects and trying to see if we can develop a couple of still young guys who have stalled elsewhere

Well give that idea back! While I really like Konecny, Buffalo needs a Dman a bit more than more scoring. Not getting both Ostlund and Rosen

Insane overpay for Laughton; dude has career high of 18 goals - Engvall territory - and you want a 1st + decent prospect. Laughably ridiculous

Points are everything? Insane overpay for a guy who plays all 3 positions, any situation, plays with grit and leadership and on a team that CAN'T score but he still gets 35-45 pts in less than top 6 minutes.

But thats fine, the leafs are all good, and dont need any of that. Since you used engvall = you got a good 3rd for a guy who has scored 15 goals once/over 30 pts once, was a 2mil+ expiring UFA who didnt excel at anything, comparing engvall to laughton is laughably ridiculous.

Is it an overpay? Yes, but then he doesnt need to be traded and is exactly what TOR needs, do you think they get reasonably priced quality for an under offer? Leafs spend every season looking for leadership, two way play and grit, and have given up far more for temporary solutions than this. I've seen your schtick before, you dont think Laughton is worth it, thats fine.

Hahaha, no thanks to Kisakov.....

While its a huge offer, (I found it on a BUF thread, not my idea), its what it'll take from PHI probably, and one of the only big over offers I've seen. Most proposals for Koneckny are a late round 1st and a meh prospect, which probably isnt enough for PHI, who don;t have to move him EXCEPT for an overpayment. But I appreciate for most BUF fans its too much

How about Poltapov instead of Kisakov. He was the 33rd pick a couple years ago.

The league is full of players that have ‘grit’ - work hard, take the body, show leadership, win face offs. I’m not discounting that but bottom 6 players can be obtained (Acciari for example) at lower aav and no acquisition cost. And Yes points matter more than anything else; offense is what pays the bills. Players like Laughton are valuable but in no scenario, under no circumstances, in no way are they worth a 1st round draft pick +. Just insanity to try to argue that but keep on trying

No thanks, 10 pts in 73 KHL games doesn;t scream out to me for Poltapov. Would take Ryan Johnson though, (even though PHI is pretty set at LD). I think it was the immense over offer quality of the offer, although to be fair the original poser had TWO 2nds in the deal with PHI including Seeler, so I lessened it.

I get what you're saying but again, Acciari is not a Laughton. In the simplest terms, acciari had a career high of 27 pts back in 2017 or 2018, and has been pretty pedestrian/an afterthought in the bottom 6 since, similar to Motte and a dozen other guys. Its also Accari was a 1mil+ UFA, and TOR didnt just give up a solid midlevel prospect, a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th for O'Reilly alone, so Accairi did cost some of that. Theres a contract and age difference too, but as you've posted before if Laughton is an Engvall or an Acciari to you, we'll never agree.
And Toronto doesn;t lack on offense, they lack on all around skill, leadership and yes, grit that can play in top 6-8 minutes. Theres a reason leafs have brought in Foligno, Nash, Ritchie, Bunting, O'reilly, Clifford, Simmonds, Gabriel, Lafferty, Acciari in the past 2-3 yrs, its to bring top 9 grit, and hopefully some production with it.

Laughton comparables, much older guys like expiring and more expensive UFAs Foligno and O@reilly brought in a 1st and more by Toronto alone

ROR went for 1st + 3rd (4th was retention); Acciari most likely for second. So when we talk about Acciari who has more grit (& lower aav) than Laughton points matter but when we talk about Laughton, points don’t matter as much because he has grit ? What? And you discount Engvall as a comparison because he has similar goals but lacks ‘grit’? 🤯Agree to disagree, Laughton is bottom 6 (3C) on a terrible flyers team - he’d be 4th line on Leafs. Just unwise to waste valuable assets on 4th liners making $3M

So a UFA to be, career high 27 pts 5 seasons ago, Accairi is worth a 2nd but Laughton, the much better player on a worse team, isn;t worth a 1st and a bit more?

And hes on your 4th line, you'd be winning 2nd rounds, because your top 9 would be far better. Im not saying Laughton is a top 6 guy, but hes be the best 3rd liner on the present Leafs team.

On the Hayes deal, I suspect it will be a younger winger (Foudy or Bemstrom if Torts has any input) rather than Roslovic coming back. Also I think the retainage for Hayes will get him closer to $5 million per year which may end up being a different pick or another pick being included. All depends on what is deemed the price for 1 million in retainage by the GM's. As of now, it's difficult to extrapolate how much the Provorov 30% retainage is actually worth pick wise.

Ex: Bemstrom/Foudy/Bean, '23 CBJ 4th rounder, and '24 LA 3rd rounder for Kevin Hayes w/ $2,142,857 retained

You are all over the place here - first points don’t matter that much , now they do. Disagree that Laughton is much better player than Acciari - they score at similar rate, Laughton produces much higher points but Acciari is much grittier. Leafs can sign FA Max Domi for similar aav as Laughton (no aquisition cost) and he produces more points. You still seriously going to argue leafs would be justified sending a 1st + prospect for Laughton? Come on man

Just never mind....Laughton is more than pts, I said that in the beggining, you compared his goal totals to "Engvall territory". Then you said Acciari was acquired for nothing, then you said he cost a 2nd.You made it about offense, now you're pivoting again.... And when it comes to measurable stats, most of which Laughton has in spades over Accairi. If you truly think toronto gave a 2nd for an expiring Accairi, a 27 pt career high 5 yrs ago, a 12-13 minute a night player, etc, is better than Laughton who plays more minutes, has more Takeaways, is a candidate for captain, has more hits, more pts on a lesser club, are even equal than just stop commenting, we get it. Resign Acciari and best wishes, its a ACGM, and your opinion is not supported by stats, and is just your opinion.

And you think you can get Domi for 3mil?

Good luck dude
