Meh. None of the Toronto pieces are anything to write home about. With the demand there will be for Hellebuyck if he is put on the market, this deal would be beaten quite easily. So, that's not a concern or incentive.

Saying Sammy is a backup is just wrong, proved this year he is a strong starter who can handle a decent workload.

sammy is a good goalie young and under team control but let's be real helly is definitely a tier above him but I'm just thinking sammy might be the jets best option if they actually want a good goalie

Well in a trade where they are acquiring a goalie it makes sense to send a goalie back the other way. Especially when it sounds like winnipeg doesn't plan on rebuilding. I also don't believe this deal gets them Hellebuyck and it would likely take another top prospect like Minten, but Sammy will be apart of any trade the Leafs would make for a goalie because it makes logical sense.

100% agree. Samsonov and Minten need to go back for Helly, but Minten wasn't in the proposal here. Here's my thinking... Helly for Samsonov, Minten and the BOS 1st round pick. Minten is more valuable to the Jets than TImmins and Voit. Samsonov buys the Jets a little time, but they will need a similar goalie to him, because I 100% believe Sammy is a 1B or 2A, not a 1A.

I think he proved with the Leafs this year he can be a 1A. Also did so while pretty clearly being hurt through the end of the season and playoffs. I could see his numbers falling off a bit in Winnipeg though, the Leafs defence and high end chance prevention definetly buoyed his numbers early on. But that deal of Sammy, Minten, 1st is realistic.

Falling off slightly in WPG??? You are as kind as you are smart. WPG's D is brutal. They have the worst D coaching in the league. They are a mess back there. They have very talented D like Morrissey, Samberg, Demelo, etc.. but their D is skittish and their forwards do NOT like coming back. Samsonov in WPG takes a HUGE hit. If you watched any Jets games you will know that 80% of the games they won were flat out due to Helly. The Jets didn't play D in front of him because they knew that most of the time he would stop the shots. The only time the Jets played D is when Big Sieve Dave was in net, and not even all of those games.

The Jets need to rebuild and DESPERATELY need a Good D coach.

I am from WPG and Love my Jets, but they are currently very hard to cheer for.

Feeling sorry for any goalie who ends up in WPG until they get a new GM, new D coach and get rid of Scheifele, Wheeler, Dubois, etc.. and start bringing in new blood.
