Seems a little steep. Carolina can ice Svechnikov - Aho - Necas for 18 million for example and then role out Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis which is an entire top six for not that much more. Combine that with of Dach playing out of position as a natural center, there's a lot of questions. It's a line that's fine going forward, but struggles defensively. It's also a line that has been inconsistent in its production. Committing 25% of the salary cap to it seems... rough
Yes, Carolina has done a great job icing a solid top 6 without breaking the bank, but it doesn’t make sense to compare where Carolina is now with what Montreal is doing. The teams are in totally different situations. Carolina is trying to win the cup now, and Svechnikov and Kotkaniemi are the only players on that list signed beyond next season. Montreal is building to be a contender in a few years, when the cap should be higher, so they need to pay more now to make sure their best young players are still around and on team-friendly contracts when they become a contender. There’s always a chance it might not work out, but I think they’re doing a good job of getting the key pieces in place.
He's a weird troll that saves random clips when a player makes a bad play like the Severson thread.
I've watched enough of Caufield in person. He was only shutdown by the team for his shoulder. He scored at a 46 goal pace with a bum shoulder. He's a 50 goal man in his sleep. A chance creating machine. Finds the open space and is almost impossible to cover in traffic.

He's currently a 5-6 million dollar player signed to 8 mill... And right now, especially with how he's been playing in the preseason, that looks like a stretch

Tell me you don't watch Montreal play without telling me.
Caufield has been one of the best, if not the best on Montreal in preseason.
So, you think he's a "1 goal in 30 games" player or a 40+ goal scorer?
The only ppl that can say this, dont understand what they are watching.
The way Cole can slip out of coverage and find seams is elite forget his shot, puck handling. Its the same with Bedard ppl dont understand how difficult it is to shoot with your stick close to your body without a release. That is Bedard's best tool among everything else.
The naysayers just prove they are not worth listening.
