I thought about that as well. I also looked at no Petry and still including Veleno. Two years at that cap hit and he will regress, makes it less and less practical. Not to mention his trade clause, meaning flipping him won’t return Detroit value as Petry has some say.

I mean if we get Petry, doubt we'd try to flip him. His term is perfect as a bridge defenseman for a RHD 2023 draftee that isn't a complete project (Reinbacher/Willander).

I just don’t think it makes sense to bring him in unless the sweetener is worth it. 14 is enticing and outweighs the negatives, but it also depends on other moves.

I think Petry + 14OA would be a dream. 9OA + 14OA + 17OA? You could do so much with this. You could trade up, or you could stay where you are.

Leonard + Wood + Willander is my favorite option.
