Some non-fact based blog posts a Necas/Pesce for Marner trade and now it becomes the going rate.

For the record - I believe that both the Leafs and Canes would be silly to do this trade. If Marner had more term - it would make sense.

Think the Canes would do better signing Pesce to an extension, and trading Necas elsewhere.

Dude I’m not even a Canes fan and I wouldn’t do that. Necas is 75% of Marner’s production at a quarter of the price. The difference isn’t a top pairing dman.

COL would be very interested in Necas.

Any team that would take Murray would do a favor to Toronto. Gving Robertson is not really adding values to Murray's contract, Robertson is a prospect on decline. No need to say you ain't getting Anderson in the mix... So, TOR keep Murray, MTL keep Anderson and let Robertson have a good season in the AHL next season to see if he can gain some values.

If you really want a Anderson vs Marray trade, you just need to add Nylander to the recipe. If you don't agree, try somewhere else!

I think the Canes will move Necas for a player with term who will help. Naturally I think it will move towards a Girard / Necas deal but I’m not convinced that the Canes want that. They weren’t too pleased with smaller D in their top 4.

I mean Girad is somebody who we can put opposite of Chatfield. I have the sneaking suspicion that the Hurricanes would only move roster pieces for a 35+ goal scorer

When the acquisition cost is a top 6 winger on a RFA deal, getting a $5m 3rd pairing defenseman is not ideal.

If Girard is a Cane, that means Skjei is out, and he MUST play in the top 4

Idk I think Carolina makes a lot of sense for Marner and likewise I think Toronto makes a lot of sense for Necas. I doubt Pesce would be included but I think those 2 as a base makes a lot of sense

IF the Canes pay anyone more than $10m AAV…it’d better have a long term commitment attached it it. Call it cheap or whatever else people may - the fact is whatever you send for Marner turns to nothing when he walks as a UFA after just two seasons.

Tbh I'd only like to move one of the top six forwards if for Clayton Keller, Cole Caufield or Auston Matthews

The last two are wishful thinking, and don’t see a path to either becoming a Hurricane.

Keller is intriguing but most of the assets we’d move for him have some sort of trade protection. I also think Keller makes a little more AAV than the Canes would spend on a winger, but at least there is term there.

I posted a 3-way where Avs get Necas, Leafs get Toews, and Canes get Nylander. Wasn't all positive in the feedback department, but I personally think it makes a lot of sense.

Note that both Nylander and Toews sign extensions in this fantasy land.

I mean I think that Tuevo's M-NTC doesn't include Arizona and we can add some prospects and picks that would get it to the level of them making a deal. It also seems from the little that I've watched Keller that he would be a pretty good fit for the Hurricanes in terms of the style of game he plays. I mean I've heard that the talks between Caufield and Montreal and at an impasse and maybe that ends up to them not being able to make a deal

Canes decline, Necas 75% production 25% cost, Pesce top pairing D, RD worth more than Winger, Marner pass first guy, Canes have enough pass 1st guys. Moving roster pieces for someone that doesn't completely help the goal scoring issue is an instant no

He said he wants josh anderson from a divisional rival for a cap dump and a bad contract to count against the 50 contract limit, yes dude he really said that...

P.s. for the anderson haters on here (who secretly wish yheu had anderson) who'll say anderson is a cap dump, this guy has him playing on the 1st line...)

Girard gets so much unreasonable hate because he is smaller. Dude plays good positional defense and has an active stick. Plays 20 minutes puts up 30pts with no PP1 time and is signed for 4 more seasons at $5M, and he is great in transition.

I’d be cool with him playing in my top 5, just relaying the track record for the Canes. TDA was the last smaller defenseman to get top 4 mins and the canes only did that because they had to. They would chose larger D who can skate.
