Lilly is a 3rd pairing guy at best. Sort of master of none type player. Not great 5v5 or special teams.

For sure need a boost on D...
Oilers will need some D also. I liked campbell but he's not a 5mil goalie.
Nor is Murray a 5 mil goalie unfortunately.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>You literally said this trade helps TO win big games.</div></div>
I made the trade not because Jeannot is a better player or will be it was to get a cheaper option that has a decent ceiling while using the remaining 6mil difference to improve the roster elsewhere.
Jeannnot was just a player who makes next to nothing and is under control.
Instead of moving nylander dollar for dollar ie willy for Gibson or someone like that.

Askarov is for the future... jeannot is a cheap option... and losing 40pts of production from nylander but gaining cap to spend else where would even out. And losing a guy like Nylander doesn't make the leafs miss the post season either way

Tanner Jeannot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>I wouldn't say it's slipped in there. Goalies are crap shoots. He could flame out easily enough, it's so hard to predict goalies. Nylander though is a point a game player in his prime. That is extremely valuable. Definitely worth more than a 24 year old with a 20 goal season under his belt. Askarov makes it interesting but I would wager Nashville wins this trade unless Askarov turns into the next Vasi</div></div>
Jeannette could easily be a david Clarkson or matt belesky type guy. Askarov would be a huge wildcard and in no means do I think Jeannot will match nylander at any pt in his career. The trade was more about gaining cap and grabbing an actual goaltending prospect.
Whether you add something on either side I don't feel this is my toronto bias.

Fair enough... the asking price for Hagel was so high I thought this would be considered an over payment.
I thought maybe they take 50% of stromes contract?
Either way.

I think Sandin is going to be a stud at both ends of the ice, and I really want to see him mature in Toronto.
That being said, I'd add other players / prospects to make it work if ARI was interested. The only other prospect I wouldn't put in is Niemela.</div></div>
I'm a huge sandin fan also.
I wonder if you throw in Robertson and or liljegren instead if that would do it.

Leafs aren't selling Andersen that low and won't have to sweeten the deal to move him.
That Murray deal is just bad. He's not worth a top prospect for a goalie who was sub .900sv% this year.</div></div>
Montreal might not want to trade to toronto but domi is a RFA so I doubt domi will go anywhere unless he wants to...
Mtl can trade him wherever but if he doesn't want to sign why would you trade for him.

Johnnson did go for a 2nd in the trade and kerfoot got the 3rd. Engvall was a 6th.
Anyone who thinks johnnson gets a 2nd alone is nuts. Hes a C+ 2nd line winger and probably a B+ 3rd liner.

A team would offer sheet him up to $2.5M so, It doesn't make sense</div></div>
A team can offer whatever they want the player needs to sign it. Hes an RFA with no arbitration rights. The leafs will qualify him and then it's up to him to sign. He might want to sign like johnnson did so he can try to play a full season have a break out year and then really earn long term deal

Thompson made 1mil and has played for 7 or 8 different teams in his career. I'm sure if some team offers him 1.5 or 2 he would take it but I doubt anyone will. Hes 35 and a career 4th liner.
Pietro might not sign for 9 or 9.5 he might sign for 10plus he might sign for less.
Clearly people dont take pay cuts to play for leafs. Look at every contract they've signed in recent years. Other then spezza no one took a cut.
And offering a guy 100gs less then the previous year isnt really a low ball.

Brassard made 1.2
And Thompson made 1 so it's a pay cut but not huge and they're both old
