If we’re trying to keep it realistic here, I doubt Detroit moves BOTH 1st round picks in the deal. Seems too high in such a deep draft to only move up 5 spots when the Wings could still get a good player at 9th and 17th. Personally I’d think it’d look something like this:

42nd overall pick (St. Louis’ 2nd round pick)

Anton Johansson


4th overall (San Jose’s 1st round pick)
130th overall pick (Columbus’ 5th round pick)

Sharks decline that trade. If you want them to move from 4th to 9th you'll have to make it worth their while. The 9OA is a given. Adding the 42nd OA, Berggren and Johansson to that isn't worth them losing one of Michkov, Carlsson or Smith. They'd need something they couldn't refuse. They'd need Edvinsson. For the Wings that's simply a non starter. I'd only give up Edvinsson in a package if it were for 1st or 2nd OA.

The difference in the quality of prospect that you get at 4th this year isn’t much different than one you’d get at 9th. There’s not THAT much of a gap. The 42nd overall pick is basically them moving up 88 spots later in the draft which is pretty significant value for the gap between 4 and 9. Then you had in Berggren who’s a young player that they can insert in their lineup immediately, and Johansson who is Detroit’s 2nd best right handed defence prospect is that looks like a big draft steal (and fits San Jose’s organizational depth need).. it’s a more than fair offer and I don’t think any team is going to significantly overpay like you said because the difference between the draft slots isn’t that much quality this year
