Description
Connor Hellebuyck has said that he doesn't want to be a part of a Jets rebuild, so these are some trades that I thought of. I would also trade away some other players from the Jets but I wanted to focus on Helle for this one.
I don't know much about contracts or cap space so if something is terrible let me know. Let me know what you think, all courteous feedback is appreciated!

I thought of some other teams that could be possibilities but they either have a decent goalie already, or not enough cap.

  2. Kochetkov, Pyotr
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CAR)
Détails additionnels:
With Freddy being a UFA, Carolina needs a goalie and Helle would be the perfect fit.
Jarvis is young and very talented (and from Winnipeg) but I think Carolina would be willing to trade him at the right price.
Kochetkov is also young and good and I don't know if they would be okay with giving him up.
Carolina has a lot of talent, so there are a lot of player that could replace Kochetkov in this trade, for example Drury, Suzuki or someone else but I think Kochetkov would be the most beneficial for the Jets.
I had this exact trade in another one of my teams and some people agreed while others didn't. What does everyone think?
CAR
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
Détails additionnels:
Helle said he loves playing in the playoffs, so I think he would love to go to the Canes.

  1. Durzi, Sean
  2. Lizotte, Blake
  3. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (LAK)
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (LAK)
Détails additionnels:
Could LA be a possibility? They don't have much cap space either and they also have Copley and possibly Korpisalo if he resigns.
Durzi is a young defensemen which could fit in a Jets rebuild, but I'm not completely sure.
I was looking through LAs roster and I found Lizotte, who's pretty young and looks like he could be good but I'm not very familiar with him so I don't know if the Kings would trade him, or if he's worth it.
They also have Byfield and Clarke, but I proposed trading those guys another time and it did not get good feedback. Maybe one of them for Helle?
I'm not very sure about this trade, so let me know what you think.
LAK
  1. Hellebuyck 3, Connor
Détails additionnels:
Could also add a retention to this one.

WPG
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. Marner, Mitchell
Détails additionnels:
Toronto could also use an elite goalie like Helle so here are some possibilities for it.
Liljegren is a young defensemen that the Jets could use, so he's a great option.
I've seen a lot of trades involving Marner, so I think people want him out. A positive is that he's good defensively so he could play PK. A huge negative is his contract which is way to big and a big reason why we mightn't want him. Another is that he's not big and the Jets don't need more small guys.
I'm not a big fan of this trade and I don't think Toronto would take it but maybe. Thoughts?
TOR

WPG
  1. Bouchard, Evan [Droits de RFA]
  2. Skinner, Stuart
Détails additionnels:
Edmonton could be a very good playoff team, but they're missing a solid teddy. The problem is that they don't have that much cap space.
Bouchard is probably going to be asking for a lot of money this year so he could be a possibility, but he's also very good.
Skinner is a good prospect and so Edmonton might not want to give him up, but I think they would for the right offer.
I was also considering adding a player with a bigger salary but Winnipeg doesn't really need many of them I don't think. Campbell is a possibility but then EDM would have to give up more. Yamo is another example, but reading through some other comments Winnipeg doesn't need more small guys (thank you SKWPG you have a lot of good comments :).
Would the oilers be okay giving up Bouchard?

You are wildly over estimating how much value a goalie one year from free agency has.

They look good for Winnipeg except for the Toronto deal, but your values are all over the place. Although the other teams likely turn them down.

There's just no way Winnipeg gives up one year of Hellebuyck for two of Marner. If the Jets trade Helle it means some degree of rebuild, so picks and prospects are what they'd be after. Two years of Marner does absolutely nothing for Winnipeg.

The only way Kings trade for Hellebuyck is if Winnipeg retains 50% of his salary and even then I don't think they'll give up a 1st.

If Winnipeg takes back Cal Petersen, then I could see the Kings potentially including the 1st.

I knew Helle was overrated but this is ridiculous, cant see any of these being a remote possibility, the LA one has the framework of a deal but that's about it.

You’re going to get wrecked!
Let’s start with the canes trade: they aren’t going to trade Jarvis or their other goalie. If they were to trade for Hellebuyck then it would be for picks and prospects.

For the Kings: they aren’t trading Durzi. The kings are contending and Durzi is a young, cheap, nhl ready player that can contribute. Again, you’re looking at picks and prospects.

For the Toronto trade: that’s just flat out laughable. Not even for Marner alone would leafs do that unless their new gm wants immediately fired lol. Idk if the nhl would even approve that trade. And it’d make no sense for WPG to rebuild and then trade Hellebuyck for Marner lol. You are looking at picks and taking Murray back and possibly retention.

Edmonton: again they are competing so they aren’t giving up a young top 4 D and a solid goalie who would be their 1B. You’re looking at taking a bad contract, retention, and getting picks in return.

I don't agree with this. I think that Durzi is one of the most likely Kings to get traded this summer.

Hellebuyck to Los Angeles would seem to be reasonable on the surface. But there are several problems with it. Number one: the cap situation. Los Angeles has no cap surplus right now (we have $7.5 million in cap space currently, with Gabe Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari and Tobias Bjornfot to re-sign as well as other obligations), so any trade has to be at least cap-neutral for us. And our cap situation next year (i.e., for the 2024-2025 season) is almost equally fraught, because Hellebuyck would probably be asking for at least $8 million on his next contract. Number two: the roster situation. Acquiring Hellebuyck gives us three goalies, which means we'd have to bury Petersen in the AHL while still bearing the burden of his $3.85 million cap hit there -- that's essentially depriving us of that sum against the cap. The alternative, trading Copley under duress, is hardly more palatable. Number three: the first-round-pick situation. We traded away our 2022 first in the Fiala deal and the 2023 first in the Gavrikov-Korpisalo deal, so it's unlikely that we'd have the imminent first-round pick that the Jets would probably require as an element of a Hellebuyck trade.

I just don't see it unless it's along the lines of Arvidsson, Durzi, Petersen and our 2024 second for Hellebuyck without retention, which I doubt is all that appealing to Winnipeg fans.

I think Walker would be more likely traded than Durzi. 🤷‍♂️

Bouchard is now (or should be) untouchable. QB of historically best powerplay. Getting better at defense...future 1D.
