I'd argue he's got more value than everything Winnipeg is giving up purely because goalie values aren't as high as they should be on the trade market. Chaz Lucius doesn't do anything for Carolina and Wheeler's declining as is, he'll be 37 next year. Hard pass on losing 2 of the 3 best prospects the Canes have and multiple roster pieces. You could make Hellebuyck someone like KC and I still think the Canes say no here. That's the starting point of a package I'd expect for someone like MacKinnon or Draisaitl. Not Hellebuyck

Good thing you’re not in charge, then. There is also a human element here.

It’s not that I don’t like Tex I do but I this his 2 years out have cost serious development time and there are younger cheaper guys fighting for that 3/4 line spot. The team had to look forward as if he was never coming back so that’s what they did. I would be happier than a pig in **** to be proven wrong but I also think if a team makes this kind of offer you have to seriously think about taking it.
