Kaprizov for Barzal

Description
Here's my reasoning:

MIN:
Needs a C, Isles are playing Barzal on the wing
Aren't sure Kaprizov signs in 2 years
IF Kaprizov signs, he will probably get a bajillion dollars. I like Barzal locked in at ~$9M
Already have a star winger in Boldy (my opinion)
Boldy plays extremely well with speedy linemates (Hughes, Zegras, Newhook, Beniers, Fiala, Johansson)
I'm sick of the Wild PP having no right shot forward. Barzal can run it for them.

NYI:
I don't know if re-signing Sorokin is a worry, but he's a former teammate of Kirill and Romanov. I bet all three would agree to stay together on Long Island.
They are playing Barzal on the wing? I get that they have too many Cs, but still.
In my eyes they are getting the better player.
Need to score more goals, which Kirill is pretty good at.

Let me know what you think on value.. I'm also throwing Zuccarello in here because he's pretty much useless without Kirill.

Détails additionnels:
Zuccy is pretty much useless without Kirill, plus I always thought a Kirill-Horvat-Zuccarello line would work well in MN. I'd be willing to retain to make the cap work. All I really want is cap space to use in FA or on Dumba.

Im sure, the Isles fans will correct me if I'm wrong but Barzal is playing wing because he's not that great at taking faceoffs.

This is a fun trade that I would strongly consider taking even though it will never happen haha. Need to know with 100% certainty you have the CSKA boys locked up long term. Kirill is only a few years from UFA

Accurate. The Horvat deal obviously kicked Barzal to wing. I don't think it's out of the question he goes back inside though if the Isles trade someone like Pageau this summer

That's a very interesting offer for the isles. I mean if you are retaining salary on Zuccarello as well. There are 2 issues though, I still think we need to move a contract on our side. And I worry about resigning Kaprizov in 2 years. He's already making 9M, he'll definitely want a bigger contract. Right now Brazal is locked in for 8 yrs at 9M....

I mean most isles fans including me would rather get Brazal a top winger and play them together and I think you would see him in the 90 pt. range with a true sniper.

Just not sure....but nice job.

He was put at wing once they acquired horvat (who is a mediocre 5v5 center). Barzals skating/puck handling/playmaking as well as his above average defensive game is much better suited at center

Doesn’t make sense for the isles because this doesn’t make the isles much better. Kaprizov is either going to walk or get a Huberdeau contract into his late 30s.

I don't disagree on the contract thing, but I would argue that I think the Isles get significantly better. Kaprizov has 1.15 PPG and .56 GPG over his career. Barzal has .86 PPG and .25 GPG over his career (.677 PPG and .247 GPG over 3 yrs). It's an aggressive trade but getting the best player can be a game changer (see Tkachuk). Plus Lou is old so I'm wondering if he will care to think that far ahead lol.

Yeah, didn't mean that he was bad as a center but just a faceoffman, usually those guys are paired with wingers who can take important draws for them. I personally don't think it would be worth trading Kaprizov for Barzal since I see him as a deficient center.

Kaprizov is better than Barzal, but using points is misleading because kaprizov has a better supporting cast and he plays anywhere from 3-5 min more than Barzal on any given night.

Florida had another superstar (barkov) when they traded Huberdeau for Tkachuk and Zito not only did it to get the better player, he did because Tkachuk would be signed throughout his prime. If Tkachuk was 28 YO the trade never happens.

Kaprizov needs good skaters on his line, isles probably have the worst skating forward group in the NHL. Like I said, kaprizov is an upgrade over Barzal - but not enough to matter and the isles are better off keeping Barzal at center where he thrives. Not many players can take over a game the way he can.

At even strength, faceoffs rarely matter. Barzal dominates possession regardless. There are many star centers in the NHL who suck at faceoffs , but faceoff win percentage shouldn’t be considered when evaluating if a player should stick at center

I'm assuming you're an Isles fan. Are you confident in the ability to re-sign Sorokin? If bringing in Kirill is the reason he signs, does that make it worth it?

I am an isles fan I don’t believe in signing 29 YO goaltenders to expensive long term deals so for me that doesn’t make it worth it. A declining kaprizov and Sorokin taking up 20 mill worth of cap space would be brutal

he's missed more than 1 game in only two seasons:
22-23 missed 24 games
21-22 missed 9 games
20-21 missed 1 game
19-20 missed 0 games
18-19 missed 0 games
17-18 missed 0 games

That's true, but I think that's something to consider if you are trading for him to bring him in as their 1C, especially at the cost of their best player. They need to see if that's something they can overlook within their roster.

Whether the Isles return Barzal to C is a different story.
