I think you need to pay a premium to get a 1C, and I think Barzal can be a game breaker with different linemates (like Boldy). Here was my list of reasons on the other post:
MN Needs a top C
I'm not sure Kaprizov signs in 2 years
IF Kaprizov signs, he will probably get a bajillion dollars. I like Barzal locked in at ~$9M
Already have a star winger in Boldy (my opinion)
Boldy plays extremely well with speedy linemates (Hughes, Zegras, Newhook, Beniers, Fiala, Johansson)
I'm sick of the Wild PP having no right shot forward. Barzal can run it for them.

Kaprizov for Barzal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Kaprizov is better than Barzal, but using points is misleading because kaprizov has a better supporting cast and he plays anywhere from 3-5 min more than Barzal on any given night.
Florida had another superstar (barkov) when they traded Huberdeau for Tkachuk and Zito not only did it to get the better player, he did because Tkachuk would be signed throughout his prime. If Tkachuk was 28 YO the trade never happens.
Kaprizov needs good skaters on his line, isles probably have the worst skating forward group in the NHL. Like I said, kaprizov is an upgrade over Barzal - but not enough to matter and the isles are better off keeping Barzal at center where he thrives. Not many players can take over a game the way he can.</div></div>
I'm assuming you're an Isles fan. Are you confident in the ability to re-sign Sorokin? If bringing in Kirill is the reason he signs, does that make it worth it?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Doesn’t make sense for the isles because this doesn’t make the isles much better. Kaprizov is either going to walk or get a Huberdeau contract into his late 30s.</div></div>
I don't disagree on the contract thing, but I would argue that I think the Isles get significantly better. Kaprizov has 1.15 PPG and .56 GPG over his career. Barzal has .86 PPG and .25 GPG over his career (.677 PPG and .247 GPG over 3 yrs). It's an aggressive trade but getting the best player can be a game changer (see Tkachuk). Plus Lou is old so I'm wondering if he will care to think that far ahead lol.

I disagree. I doubt he gets offer-sheeted as an RFA. Only bad teams can afford an offer sheet & it'd be too risky for a bad team to give up unprotected 1sts. His only leverage is going to arbitration and taking a one year deal.

That's fair, I guess my counter argument would be the breakout season is partially due to the increase in scoring. Felt like everyone was hitting career highs. I suppose it all depends on how the market plays out for guys in similar situations like Jesper Bratt.

Fiala deal is just a hypothetical, but that's not too bad of a cap increase.

I love Fiala, but I doubt management signs him long term. I think getting a player like Nylander could really help our power play as a right shot and has a shot to play C. If he can't play C, just switch him with Hartman on the depth chart.
Nylander's deal lines up with Zucc in term, so there'd be room to pay him if it's a good fit.

Fair enough, I was simply thinking in the mind of a GM where if I traded away a LD, I would a younger one back in return in Lambos who's still only 18.

I agree that Dumba should be worth more, but in a flat cap world there are players being moved for lower amounts than they usually would be. Look at Fluery being traded for nothing and Nate Schmidt being traded for a 3rd. Since Dumba has a $6M cap hit that could diminish his return. Also Dumba being the assistant doesn't disqualify him from being traded IMO. With our cap squeeze coming up I highly doubt we will re-sign him so it could make sense to trade him after this season ends. We also have a natural replacement in Addison which makes it easier to do.

Thought I saw that if they moved him it would need to be for two firsts. Could be a fake rumor though.
Carson Lambos (2021 1st rounder) and a 2022 1st round pick would be 2 1sts tho..?

stringing rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Honestly I would despise moving Dumba for 10th overall and Roslovic. 10th overall probably gets us Lundell and personally I view him as a worse Eriksson Ek and I don't think Roslovic can stick at center. I know I'm in a pretty large minority on Lundell but I just don't think his offense will translate to the NHL. If we can't get a top 6 center then just keep him and protect 8 skaters in expansion.</div></div>
I'm weary on Lundell too but I'm honestly expecting us to take him at 9 anyways. Getting this pick would let us take the center and also snag BPA if a guy like Holtz falls or something. As for Roslovic, I don't know what he's good at which is why I put him on on wing and stuck Kunin at C. All in all don't know if Dumba's value will be any higher than it is now (ironically off a downseason) because GMs will smell blood in the water closer to expansion. So I think we just gotta take what we can get now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>I’m not at all opposed to moving Brodin or Dumba for a center prospect (I like Suzuki a lot!) or picks, but I also don’t think the Wild acquiring Addison has anything to do with it...they are mutually exclusive.
Addison is (as I’ve read) a smart, fast player with a big shot and he can run a PP. Defensemen have spent their entire lives watching forwards play in front of them - it isn’t that difficult to learn how to play forward. Changing from forward to D is a different story
With the Wild’s dire lack of right-shot forwards, I think it’s at least worth having a conversation with Addison about this.</div></div>
No, just no. Players don't just switch positions at 20 years old unless they've already been playing both (brent burns). As for your Spurgeon take, that was so bad I can't even tell if it's sarcasm.

I don't think trading Dumba at a low is a good idea unless we got a younger center back. Zuccarello isn't going anywhere whether the Wild like it or not due to his NMC.

Yeah I know, it's just hard to find any other centers that are available and he at least has a few good years in him I'd think.
I know a rebuild is coveted, but I'd rather get a higher pick this summer (like top 10) and just get back to competing by building around Kaprizov and company. Stripping it down doesn't guarantee you'll be successful and I don't think this team can even properly rebuild until the Suter/Parise contracts had a year or two left on them anyway.

That's interesting. I suppose I'd prefer Nylander based off the price tag and the fact that he's play more center than Marner in the NHL. I'm sure no trade like this can happen anytime soon after Babcock's dismissal though.

To add onto this, I don't know if I personally would want the wild to trade two young assets for one older than them considering they aren't exactly contenders. I just was trying to piece a trade together with recent news.
