You guys gave up a 2nd and a 5th for Greenway. A guy who is way more immature and plays much less of an offensive and defensive role than Foligno, so no telling what teams would give for Foligno.

But is also over 5 years younger, has another year on his contract, and is familiar with granato.

The difference between one of the last picks in the 2nd round and the 13th overall is a much bigger difference than you're portraying it to be. No chance in hell Marcus Foligno will be traded for 13th OA.

It's hard to imagine a team trading for one season of a 32-year-old Marcus Foligno, who's owed $4.1 million on a cap hit of $3.1 million, and paying even a bottom-quarter first for him. Frankly, I think that Foligno is one of those heart-and-soul guys who's more valuable to the Wild than he would be to any other team. Plus, everyone knows that Minnesota would be putting him on the market to relieve some of their cap pressure, which diminishes his value even further.

May want to hold onto the 2024 1st round pick. This very well could be a rebuilding year if things go sideways. Hate to see a potential lottery pick dealt for Taylor Raddysh.

I don’t think, especially after his most recent playoff disappearing act…and embarrassing behavior, he has any value to the Wild…other than giving him away for cap space. He’s not a very good hockey player anymore! If he was 25, maybe I would be willing to write it off as a down year, but I’m convinced his game has declined to him being a marginal 4th liner now.

If Foligno gets moved this summer it's to a cup contender in need of some grit and leadership. The Wild would be looking at possibly a 2nd rounder or a chance to flop picks. Something along the lines of Foligno and the Wild 2023 2nd rounder for a 2023 1st rounder in the 25-32 range. Remember, this draft has depth and there isn't a huge spread in talent between picks 25-60. That being said if the Wild could grab someone they really like with a last 1st and there is a contender who is willing to move back to get a player like Foligno.

I don't think a sales job is necessary. I can tell you a bit about him though. Us Hawks fans watched him play in Eire with Debrincat and there was some serious debate whether it was Debrincat or TRad carrying the load. They both played really well. TRad of course drafted to TBL where they didn't have a place for him. Cut his teeth with 'Cuse and learned a more physical game, but still wasn't ever given a chance in the NHL until 2021. Still played a limited role ATOI ~11. Now that he's getting some more ice time and 2nd PP, he's really picking up his game.

I think a lot of the trade value comes from all the "EXTRA" stuff. He'll earn less than the league minimum next year even before any potential retention. And the market has spoken when it comes to these guys. Jeannot was a MASSIVE trade. I wouldn't have done it if I were TBL, but it occurred and now that'll be the bench market. Not saying it'll get beaten. Not suggesting it should, but it's a heck of an anchor for negotiating.

Ironically Hagel is the other, but that's a bit more nuanced. Different types of players and different trade values.

I guess the last part is that the Hawks aren't looking to trade him. He's exactly what they need. Another young player that's earned more ice time and they can develop him. the TDL is when they'll maximize value. I hope they do.
