They Nylander trade is brutal. Calgary could just wait a year and see where the cards fall with their core. It would only make sense as a UFA Swap.

Cossa’s gonna take a couple years yet by the looks of it, so I could easily see Vladar becoming the starter over Husso next season

Husso only had 1 good regular NHL Season. Other than that, he hasn’t been anything particularly special and hasn’t rebounded from a down season yet, so who knows how he’ll do next season

Vladar would be a 1b with the opportunity become Starter just like he almost did in CGY this season, but Sutter was stubborn on playing Markstrom and was not supportive or reassuring enough to Vladar at all

Alternatively, the Wings should just re-sign Nedeljkovic then or pursue another Starter via Free Agency

If they want Vladar though. they’ll have to offer the equivalent of a 2nd or 3rd + 3rd + 5th

If that’s all you’re looking at to evaluate Vladar, I can’t help you and therefore have nothing more to say and won’t waste any time on you 🤦‍♂️

Husso was a high performing 1B with great numbers. He was acquired to be a starter. He was traded for...a 3rd. There was a sweepstakes. Detroit won. With a 3rd.

He also had no contract and received twice the cap hit he should have

Vladar’s Cap Hit is $550k-$1.3mil less than it should be for the next 2 years = cost certainty. That bumps his value up to a 2nd

Look at Vladar’s Win Percentage and GAA. Winning and keeping the Goals Allowed under 3 is far more important than his Sv% and if you knew anything about the Flames and the breakdowns they had this season, you would understand why his Sv% isn’t higher, but you don’t, so time to move on

Can you site some examples of goalie trades for backups that got more than a 3rd? Or even the equivalent of a 3rd? Preferably ones made before a season starts, but seriously, let's take anything.

Again, Vladar coming with a contract already in place gives a Team Cost Certainty = Additional Value

All of the above are apples to apples comparables. Vladar is not just a Backup, he’s a 1B and Future Starter on a lot of NHL Teams. He’s worth more than when we acquired him as an unproven prospect, especially with his winning record and his low cost contract, he’s worth a 2nd
