Yeah, we're never really ready for a rebuild are we? Look at those assets though.

I’m game for a rebuild, I would slice and dice this squad so large, basically unrecognizable by sept, samberg/perfetti and recent draftpicks and guys that aren’t worth selling.

I'm intentionally going overboard here, but I really think they should sell all their low-term, high value guys and just coast for a bit.

I would love 3 picks in top 20 this year, I would have a conversation with Lowry/Connor possibly morrissey, keep them in the loop on the goings on, love to be the veteran nucleus going forward, but if they want to go somewhere specifically try your best to take care of them. The key is getting as much as possible for the big 3 headed for ufa status next summer, don’t want to alienate the guys that have committed, but would be nice to get quite the haul for next 3 drafts and a bunch of kids to go forward with. If scheifele was smart he would extend and get the most out of Winnipeg cap wise, helly probably wants to go home unless there’s a distinct double down on the nucleus which is tough to do. So possibly a helly deal, to get into top 20 in draft and prospects, possibly something similar for Dubois if he wants to go home also. I wonder if there a ufa coming for the cap space left and a bunch of other teams possibly light on budget in the ufa period, if not take on a few cap dump trades like you did to try a quicker rebuild. I like your build.

I've done a Helly to DET thing recently and most of the DET fans liked the idea of it but ultimately would rather go for him in UFA.

Ya I was thinking something around that islanders pick and some other prospects and possibly even take chiarot back, 3 years and a ton of cap though, but to add to the haul and get something done, it might take some creativity. I was trying to work up a Dubois to Montreal, sanheim and a young Center to Winnipeg and possibly coutiere hart to Montreal, some crazy mega deal lol. Try to get some top 20 picks to Winnipeg also. Love this site, but my concentration level gets me off on tangents and can’t seem to complete a build. Montreal a bunch of picks and prospects to Philly. Monster 3 way deal

A concern I have with this route is you would like to deal Olofsson at the deadline, but I've used all the retention slots and wouldn't be able to retain on him which would be required in a deadline deal for him. Would probably have to keep him and not deal him at the deadline unfortunately, unless you could take a cap dump back.

I like this for the jets and think you’ve found really sound partners for all trades. Agree with you that taking cap dumps on to maximize capital could be a good idea as well, but not sure which assets might be on the table. Guys like Matt Murray and Jeff Petry would even fill positions of need for the jets depending what those teams think of their cap situation and how much they would give up to dump them

I'm ngl, I always keep all parties involved in mind, but I expected some push back from this one, whether they're right or biased. I was going bold and no GM would ever blow up this big, but I'm glad it's received somewhat realistic.

It's exactly what they need filled, so it would be exciting to see them just go for it. Would take a lot of assets to get done, but would make them an instant contender, especially if they could re-sign both right away.

Its a little awkward with Levi there. I guess maybe if Hellebuyck was open to a short term extension, but then idk why he'd do that. Could probably get an Ehlers deal done.

That’s a good point that I somehow didn’t even consider. Now that I think of it, I’m sure they would love to have Hellebuyck for a year, but there’s no way they would try to force it this hard with Levi about ready to go. Could see them interested in Ehlers though.

An Ehlers and Demelo combo with extensions would be really interesting.

that's pretty much 3 firsts for Dubois. In my eyes, it's a hard no from MTL.

3 late 1sts with some baggage attached is not a bad deal for him. Both Mailloux and Mesar don't have much certainty at the nhl level at this point.

Yeah, Habs are still gonna take their chance on those "uncertain" assets. Easy pass for me.

Might not be what you're looking for. smile

Personally, my best offer for PLD stands at Dvorak + one of Ylonen/Kapanen/Tuch/Mysak + CGY's 1st (which is listed as 2025, but is in fact 2024 Top-19 protected). Of course, if FLA's pick becomes #29-#32, it changes things a bit. But right now, this is pretty much where I'm at.

Cant hate on you for trying something bold. This is too much to give up for 1 year of M.S. A player who has done the opposite of what coaches have asked of him. He produces but, he needs to be babysat by defensive minded wingers. Newhook should be out of the convo. I would do Beacauge and a 24 1st with conditions.
