Description
Just rip the bandaid off WPG. Dubois just doesn't care anymore, he wants to be a Habs.

Seriously, after watching tonight's game, which team would pay for PLD as a rental?

You can switch CGY 24/25 1st for MTL 2023 37th overall pick if you want an earlier pick.

You have to face it. A lowball offer won't work. You'll need an offer comparable to the Horvat deal to be competitive. You get far too emotional about this and refuse to think logically and rationally about the trade.

That's exactly the Horvat offer, but you're not getting a 2023 mid 1st because he's not extending with any team. And CGY 1st could easily be a mid 1st...

Forget it. You can't discuss this logically and come up with all kinds of lame rationalizations to try and justify crappy offers that have no chance of success. Just enjoy your fantasy.

I think you're overeacting. We already agreed in another conversation this could be the best offer WPG get if they can't trade him before the 2023 draft. You think he raised his value tonight?

Late 2024 1st/mid 2025 1st + Beck isn't enough? What more would another team offer?

I didn't say he's bad, he just doesn't want to play anywhere but MTL.

That's just so we don't screw WPG over. I don't care about CGY 1st and i really like Beck, but he's expendable if PLD is coming to MTL.

Lol Dubois scores how's that game going to be seen now eh

For the last time drouin was a French player that got traded to mtl and didn't advocate to be there and wasn't as established as Dubois. Dubois is older, advocating to play in mtl, plays a whole different style and has had 3 60 point years which drouin never had.

I'd really love to see a quote from PLD or his agent stating he only wants to play in Montreal. Do let me know when you can track that down, until then it's all media speculation.

Ever heard the expression "actions speak louder than words"? PLD was expecting an OS from the Habs in 2020 offseason, JK cleared enough space to prevent it. PLD went to the 2022 draft in Montreal expecting to be traded to Montreal during the draft. The trade never materialized but he was still expecting it. PLD's agent releases a statement saying PLD wants to play in Montreal, his on ice actions both in Columbus and Winnipeg shows he is not interested in playing in either city. PLD informed the Jets he is not interested in signing a long term deal and wants to test FA, speculation from insiders say it is because he wants to go to Montreal. PLD was under contract with the Jets so he couldn't come right out and say he wants to be a Hab but his actions and those of his agent make things pretty clear.

Ah, see, even you are admitting it's speculation.

If he doesn't give a ****, has decided he is only signing in Montreal, and the whole hockey world "knows" it, then why doesn't he just say it? Career suicide? If he signs long term with Montreal it's probably the last contract of his career as it takes him to what, 33, 34 years old? What's he got to loose by stating that he only intends to sign with the Habs?

Just give them Dach and the FLA 2023 1st and be done with it.

If I'm the Jets GM and I know PLD is trying to do an end run around me and walk himself to FA to sign with the Habs, and the Habs are low balling me because "they could get him for free" then I QO PLD and spend the next season busting his a$$ down the lineup and destroying his confidence so by the time Montreal signs him he is a withered husk of his former self that will take years to put right again.

After watching him play tonight I wouldn't give a 2nd rounder for him, I don't want him now. I don't care how many regular season goals or points a player puts up, if they can't bother to put the effort into an elimination game then they can go play for the Leafs, their used to being let down by lackluster performances. Habs fans and media would run Dubios out of town faster than they did Kassian if he played the way he did tonight. Great players are defined by how the preform during adversity, PLD has shown he doesn't even show up when it matters. Let him stay with the Jets or get moved elsewhere we will take Wood or Heidt at 17th and get the better player out of it. I would take someone like Gally or RHP over 10 who play like PLD when the season is on the line!!

He wouldn't do what he did tonight in MTL. That's just him giving up on WPG because he wanted to be traded last summer and they pulled out at the last minute. That's exactly what he did in Columbus, he gave up on his team and they traded him. Now no other team than MTL will want him even as a rental. That's why i think he's now worth a late 1st at best. MTL adding a decent prospect would beat any offers.

He won't, he's just frustrated by teams crushing his dream to play in MTL by holding him for the last 6 years. I really think he would thrive in MTL.

I get that he's a valuable asset for those teams, but he should have been drafted by MTL in 2016, or traded to MTL in 2021.

I would take 1 28 yo injury prone Gallagher over 10 healthy PLD's after that performance. That is such a BS performance that it should ruin his chances of ever landing in Montreal IMO. Montreal tries to build around character guys not whiney babies

In that case, I would argue that Beck > Raty as a prospect. Kapanen would be the closest match. This scenario seem to suggest that Dubois is traded AFTER the 2023 Draft. So, choices for picks would have to be 2024 MTL's 1st (Top-12 protected) or 2024 CGY's 1st (that is Top-20 protected if I remember correctly). And someone comparable to Beauvillier, so a middle-six winger with decent cap numbers, half a point per game player, with 2 years of contract before becoming a UFA. Kinda sounds like Dvorak (a center) or Hoffman (only 1 year of contract) to me.

So...

Dvorak / Hoffman
Kapanen
2024 MTL's 1st (Top-12 protected) / 2024 CGY 1st (Top-20 protected)

If he did that because he wants to play for MTL, how would it ruin his chances to play for MTL? He just lowered his value helping MTL get a better and faster deal.

If we all saw what he did tonight, how do you think the Jets owner feels? He want PLD out just as much as i want him in MTL. It'll get done fast and for less than what he's worth.

"I'd like to play in Montreal" is a hell of a long way from "I will only play for Montreal" and man are you a PLD apologist. He acted out and bailed on his two previous teams, but no, he wouldn't do that here! Not in Quebec!

Dude may have the talent to be a superstar player, but he doesn't have the heart for it, and his effort is lacking on the ice. Tell me that isn't Drouin 2.0

The thing is, his agent went out of his way to say his player would like to play for MTL. To me, that says a lot.

PLD gave out on his two previous teams BECAUSE he wants to play for MTL since the 2016 draft. I can't see him lacking effort and heart on his dream team.

Drouin is the softest player in the league. PLD is the opposite. He's definitely not Drouin 2.0, and anyone saying otherwise doesn't know hockey.

That's just me giving my opinion with the informations i got. You don't have to be butthurt about it.

For once, a Quebec player seem to really want to play his best years in MTL. How about you let us enjoy that one.
