Penguins add guentzel to wings deal since you traded your first to Ottawa. Petry is a pure cap dump and a big one

I’m a wings fan that actually likes the petry to DET idea but for a 3rd you’ll need max retention and more.

Ditto.
Only way I see Petry to Detroit if it's a package that includes their '23 1st and we send some picks/prospects back.

Dawg he is not that much a cap dump. Solid option for a team with cap space that needs a veteran defensemen.

Debrincat trade doesn't make sense for either side

Pens get a young superstar that prolongs their window and leaves them better off in the future. None of those first round picks will be in a position to add a player that would make an impact in the Crosby/Malkin era.

Ottawa gets more than what they gave up to get Debrincat.

Not sure how that doesnt make sense for either side.

I'm not saying Petry + 1st for FC.
Maybe Petry + 1st for 2nd + 3rd + Mastrosimone - or something like that.

The only way getting Petry makes sense is if we get his replacement along with him.

Because even with DeBrincat this isn't a true contender. I dont think we even make playoffs next year but if we do it will only be for one, maybe two years if were lucky. And then what happens during rebuild, we would probably just trade him again for less in return. Ottawa is closer to contending then we are. They have a much younger group and we are on the decline. Given they'll probably make playoffs I dont think they'd want to give DeBrincat up for two 1sts that won't help them now and an awful contract in Granlund. We just shouldn't be giving up any 1st round picks now. With all the uncertainty it's better to wait and see if were competitive then if we are can deal one at the deadline. If we trade for Debrincat, give up two 1sts, and dont make playoffs that will be a disaster and cripple our rebuild.

So I'll take desmith for free but you're gonna have to pay something to get someone to take petrys contract away for you.

And adding Granlund makes them way worse, and his contract immediately hamstrings them on cap space, which is a whole part of why Ottawa would be looking at moving DeBrincat anyway.

Ottawa isn’t moving debrincat cause of cap issues. He doesn’t want to sign long term there so they’ll move him to get some sort of return.

Two first rounders and a former first rounder in Poulin is a haul for just the rights to a player. Which is why I felt comfortable adding a cap dump like granlund.

Kindly disagree. Getting a 25 year old superstar is well worth two first round picks that you have no idea what they would become. In 4-5 years when they are fully rebuilding debrincat will still be in his prime and bring in at least a 1st round pick.

See where your coming from but I think this team will rebuild sooner than that and I just feel the team is flawed on a lot of levels
