First off that garbage doesn't even come close to getting Elias Lindholm, He's a Center not Winger. And he's getting a hell of a lot more than Thompson and Cozens on his next deal. So you going to pay Lindholm either 8 x $7,500,000 or 8 x $8,000,000 as your 3C doesn't make any sense to trade for him.

Sorry, no, we're not trading our best defensive defenseman for your two worst-defensively players, and not even the monkey point can convince us otherwise.

Welcome to CapFriendly! It can be a bit harsh here at times

It’s completely understandable why you want to Trade all those players out of BUF, but all the other Teams, GM’s and their Fans know why too, so dumping your weaker = expendable players for another Teams Top Player or a Better Defensemen isn’t going to fly or be well received around here

Again, Welcome to CF! Hope you have fun with it!!!

Friends, Managers and Sabres, lend me your ears.
I am not here to praise the value of the trades but rather the value of assets.

Henri and Victor are not bad they have merely replaced Casey Mittelstadt as the Sabres whipping boys.
Last year Jokiharju was Dahlin's partner and only Rasmus played more minutes than Henri.

Few NHL LW have as many goals as Olofsson, and even fewer forwards score faster than his 1.6goals/60 minutes.
He is an elite goal scorer.

So why am I ranting, Buffalo fans are trading Victor and Henri because they feel they can be replaced easily.
The fact remains they have value, they are not garbage and have more value than what Sabre fans are giving up to replace them.

They have value, but they’re not very desirable would be my statement

Jokiharju is a consistent 0.25PPG guy, which isn’t enough for the minutes he gets and for being in the Top-4. He doesn’t stand out or do anything particular special just yet, he’s just average. So he’s maybe worth a 2nd Round Pick or Equivalent Prospect right now. A Team looking to rebuild and continue developing him might have a good player on their hands eventually, but he’s at least 2-3 years away imo from being a desirable enough piece that Teams will forego drafting their own guy and trading anything decent for him

Yes, Olofsson can obviously score goals, but so could James Neal and similar to Neal, I don’t believe Olofsson knows the words Defence and Back Check, which are also just as equally important in hockey as scoring is. He’s a 20-25 Goal Scorer, as I’m not sure his 17.4% Shot Percentage this season is truly sustainable. If you could use him only on the 4th line on offensive zone Faceoffs and on the PP, he’d be a great offensive specialist, but if for every goal he & his lines score when he’s on the ice the opponent scores even more against, that’s not a valuable addition or player you seek to acquire and have on your team.

At least Jokiharju is young, affordable and not set to enter his peak years until 27 (D-Men & Goalies TYPICALLY take longer to develop and peak later than forwards) while Olofsson is at his peak now at 27, likely won’t improve or get any better and at $4.75mil/yr and only contributing 0.50PPG, he’ll be lucky to bring BUF the Equivalent of a 3rd or 4th Round Pick from a Team desperate for more scoring. He might bring more if he’s 50% retained, especially at next season’s TDL when he’s a Pending UFA and comes off the books after the season

Mittlestadt finally had a nice Break Out Season Offensively, but he’s nothing special and I certainly understand BUF Fans past disappointment in him. You expect far more from a former 8th overall pick. Overall he’s soft, doesn’t hit, isn’t great at Faceoffs, doesn’t kill penalties, doesn’t block many shots. He just isn’t anything great in any area, nor good enough defensively to be a reliable shut down Centre, so he’s another Left Shot LW, which are a dime a dozen. Given his age and bounce back year, he’s probably increased his value from a 3rd Round Pick to a 2nd, but he needs to work on his consistency and we can’t ignore the past and everything above and he’s definitely not worth a 1st Round Pick imo

Of course highlighted all the areas of agreement, which are exactly why those players are not garbage.

Thanks for your comment.
Cannot disagree that they are not the players you would want.
That is most important, my point was that they are not garbage.
You need to watch Casey, he has turned into a very solid back checker.
He may not hit, nor block shots but he is certainly playing solid defense.
You need to watch him.
I would not move him for less than a first, he has been that good lately.

You are correct Jokiharju will continue to grow but he is pretty solid right now, again one needs to watch him play.

Olofsson, Granato finally put him on a pure checking line with Girgensons and Okposo and he responded with two goals the past two games

TBH, we are in agreement on nearly everything except 28 goals are much more valuable than a 3rd or 4th and 57 pts are worth more than a 2nd.
Let me add go to https://www.hockeydb.com/scoreboard/ look at the hot 15.
That is what Casey can do playing on the top line, identical stats as Connor you know his name.

Good chatting with you.

Not that you asked, here's where I land. Jokiharju- agree, he is playing top 4 minutes, and not providing much of anything for it. He's the type of player that I'm personally tired of- the smooth skating defenseman that doesn't put up points, and doesn't do anything else well either, the anonymous henchmen of the world. Olofsson, he's obviously got holes in his game, but he can shoot the lights out. It's not fair even a little to say he doesn't get back, there's a whole pile of tape of him getting back to cover for mittelstadt when mittelstadt was playing center. He gets back plenty, The problem is he sucks at it. And I do like olofsson. Somebody should want olofsson, hopefully somebody that has a middle 6 center that knows how to play d, and you have to ride out the highs and lows.
I do agree that both players have become the new whipping boys, honestly olofsson is caught up in a numbers game now, there's 4 first round pick forwards coming, maybe 5 when the defenseman we want in this draft is taken (probably 3 or 4 picks before the Sabres pick). So olofsson has a year left on his deal, the fans have turned on him, and there's talented guys coming that should make him expendable. Unfortunately for me, jokiharju likely isn't going anywhere. The front office likes him, and we have absolutely nothing coming to push him out of the way. Plus the only other right shot d on the roster is Lyubushkin. So unless adams wants to get crazy, jokiharju isn't going anywhere, and adams doesn't seem to be a get crazy guy.

No need to ever ask for permission. This is still a free world that we live in and this being an open forum, if you got something constructive to say, I’m open to it and all ears for sure

Full Disclosure, I don’t watch or know the Sabres much, I just like to analyze the numbers and compare, so I appreciate your guys’s feedback and input, plus any and all insight and education you want to share with me in regards to your Sabres

Sounds like Olofsson would be a good winger for Backlund & Coleman, but we can’t afford his $4.75mil/yr. Even 50% retained, we already have Dube who is set to break out with his 20+ Goal 0.65PPG+ season, Mangiapane who should hit 30 Goals and 0.67PPG+ next season, Toffoli who just had an amazing year for us, Duehr who is younger, bigger and more physical and had his 1.45G/6ins Scoring Pace Going, Pelletier & Coronato who are both 1st Rounders who got their small taste of the NHL this year, so know what to expect and we have Prospects Connor Zary, Ben Jones and Mathis Emelio-Petterssen as potential Scoring threats in the ranks as well, so I don’t see a fit in CGY for Olofsson

I’d like to get Peyton Krebs for a deal off you guys though and somebody pitched trading Jack Quinn to us, who already has familiarly with our Jack Beck

No interest in Jokiharju or Mittlestadt though

Sabres just need to strengthen their Bottom-6, Defence and find a consistent Goalie and they’ll take off and be a team to reckon with just like the New Jersey Devils became this season
