Wow, kinda think you've overstated the trade value of LAF and DeBrincat.

Really? DeBrincat trade is less than what they traded to get him. Im not entirely sure what his value is. LAF value is unknown to me. If you take away his name and only look at his stats I would say he’s worthy the 40oa pick but his name makes his perceived value go up? What would you offer? Honestly asking bc I’m going to try to make a team based off these moves. Also is the Cates value fair?

This has been stated over and over again, the rangers since locking chytil up, can match an offersheet thats not 3 firsts.

The capitals might have 8oa, but they do not have a "great prospect"
The rangers aren't going to move a forward who's going to help them win now, for 2 prospects, and then help a divisional rival.

Capitals don’t have a great prospect? Do your homework or any minor research. That’s just such an unintelligent comment. Literally any player from the 2022 draft to start… All high end talents + they are preforming great in playoffs.

Okay so if Miller wants 7.5x8m you can match at 5.75x5 offer for Laf? TBH I was just inquiring about him. He’s been lackluster AF but I think that’s mainly bc Ranger blow at development on the offensive side of the puck.

LAF. He's not worth a 5m offer sheet that will cost a first and third. Trouble with many offer sheets, is you have pay UFA money and give up picks too. Just sign a UFA. Now Rangers are cap strapped, an offer sheet sheet of 4.3m which costs a second rounder might work. I wouldn't go above that
DeBrincat. Sens might have overpaid for him for what he has done this year. Just wiser to keep 8m or whatever for a UFA and keep the first pick and more.

Arizona won't be trading two "stars" probably.

Makes sense. Hopefully Washington gets a new coach that can properly utilized McM and maybe figure out how to use Mantha. I’m optimistic.

Cates -- no idea
Krebs -- would probably have to be in a package for a roster player like Wilson or Jensen going back the other way, not something caps would do at this point imo
Laf -- 8oa is an overpayment, seems 100% gettable with an offer sheet in the 1st+3rd range
DeBrincat -- I would offer 8oa straight up, he's coming off a worse year and has 1 less year of team control, plus 8oa in this draft is probably more valuable than 7 + 39 from last year anyways
Crouse -- somewhere between the Jeannot return and the connor Brown return, maybe McMichael or Iorio straight up? don't like the fit for washington
Vejmelka -- absolutely do not need a goalie

Crouse Is a tough 20+ goal guy
Krebs seems to be a tan out of the price range for me
LaF is intriguing but I think his value is 85% name and 15% performance.
DeBrincat is great but might offer a 2024 1st + more. 8oa is way to valuable to give up after thinking about it

Can't see the Sabres entertaining this. Krebs looks like he's going to be a nice 200 foot center, which is great. We have a top 6 already, with more top 6 guys coming, Krebs playing a decent 2 way center in our bottom 6 doesn't make him a throw away at all.

“Common sense”. Would love to see them match a 5.5+ OS. You’d assume Miller bridges? Rangers have a cap issue I’d be willing to bet they’d struggle to match a 2nd round pick only OS. Either way as the first comment said he’s so lackluster he’s not worth the hype around his name.

Makes sense. Just thought he was being underutilized and wasn’t sure if that was going to be the case. Think he’s playing 4c atm. Buffalo fans seen confident he’s their 3c next hat so this would not make sense. I agree

Good, then don't worry about him then and everyone is happy. But if you think Washington will offer sheet him, or that an offer sheet would work, I would say that lacks common sense IMO. Offer sheets are very rare, hardly ever work, and usually have negative consequences. But you go for it.

I said they COULD offersheet him. Then I offered the 8oa pick + prospect for him which is a terrible move for Washington after thinking about it. Ignoring the Rangers current cap situation “saying we can match any offersheet under 6m” lacks all common sense lol. Especially if you are overpaying to keep a lackluster talent

“ you go for it” I’m not the GM lol

You started the thread, not me. And please show me where I said "we can match any offersheet under 6m". I said the offer sheet won't happen, which is an entirely different thing, so at least get your story straight.

Philly isn't trading Cates for that. He has been the best defensive forward on the team and you aren't gonna get any young player out of Philly without an overpay.

Sooo… common sense says he probably has no intention of signing an OS sheet for a mill or 2 of money when he has a chance to win the cup where he is(year after year for the next 4 years)… all so he can play on an aging and out of playoffs hopes capitals roster… 2 years ago maybe, today not so much

Rangers best players are older…
Panarin 31
Mika 29
Trocheck 29
Kreider 31

Even Igor is 27 atm.

Fox is the only elite young player.

Rangers are also aging… and have some major cap issues. But do go on
