Description
I keep seeing PIT fans trying to reverse the Petry trade now that we unleashed Matheson.
Alright , for a price . . . dun dun dun!

For us to even Consider it we would need Petry's Wife to do a Press Conference Apologizing.
Given the Circumstances surrounding the Situation and her being Pregnant seperated from her husband during the Pandemic , it can add a lot of stress to an already stressful situation.
We can understand that and even forgive it as before that incident her and Angela were probably the favorite WAG's of our teams players outside maybe Kat Toffoli.

Next big obstacle is we're not taking Petry back unless PIT RS to match Matheson.
We got no upside to taking on more cap and a lesser player as it stands today for a younger better player without getting paid a lot or PIT RS

If PIT RS to match Matheson then i think Nylander and a 2nd is enough to entice MTL

If you want him that's the cost as we're not just reversing the trade because you made Petry Worse and we made Matheson better.
We're upfront about our desires and we know MSL wants him back as 21 pts in 33 games under MSL showed the difference a coach that understands you makes.
I get in PIT he hasnt done as well but they dont really have the support to cover Petry TBH
If you dont have that piece Petry does create a lot of high risk turnovers and odd man rushes.

I still believe though 2 years back in MTL then moving him at the TDL is best for him ,MTL and PIT as they'll likely keep putting him in a position to decline .(even though they could just acquire Kulak on the cheap and fix his situation)

Im sure there will be questions as to Center depth we got Beck , Mysak and Mesar in Laval for Call ups hours way.
We also can still target PLD as a UFA after the 2023-24 season.
So we have options and the Cap to make either work

  1. Nylander, Alexander [Droits de RFA]
  2. Petry, Jeff (1 375 000 $ retained)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
-PIT RS on Petry of 1.375m x 2 years
-Gives up a prospect who's a fringe AHL player
- late 2nd round pick most likely

PIT Motivation ?

-PIT gets Matheson for 3 years under 5m fitting their timeline for a last push with their 35+ team of Veterans.
PIT
  1. Matheson, Michael
Détails additionnels:
-Petry is an easy fix as far as on ice performance. We just need to put Harris with him and problem solved. In MTL Petry played well beside 3/30 different players he paired with over the years in Benn, Kulak and Eddy . There's a very specific type of player he needs with him and Harris is that type (as is Kovaecvic but he played RD)

Stick Petry on 2nd pair with Harris for a year or two then trade him to a contender for a profit when we rebound his value like we did Matheson
2.
MTL
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (MTL)
Détails additionnels:
-ARZ brings home a native son who's father played in ARZ after being drafted by the Jets he was one of the last players ARZ developed via AHL(1yr) into an NHL player who spent i believe it was 5 years in ARZ.

He's got skill and is worth having at this price ignoring all that. But if you include it , its something ARZ can build a story on and if nothing else can build up his value until their young guys are ready then can be flipped.
ARI
  1. Hoffman, Mike (2 250 000 $ retained)
  2. Ylönen, Jesse
Détails additionnels:
-ARZ flips Hoffman at the TDL
- Ylonen after a great year has been pushed out but Slafkovsky , RHP, Farrell and soon to be Heineman surpassing him. If we had more room fine but the odds are Ylonen ends up in the AHL next season as i expect a couple players not listed to show up looking to steal spots .(no one's talking about what Tuch's doing this year for Hutson in NCAA and their Chemistry but i believe it will factor in sooner then later)

Only way Habs give up Matheson is a team over paying and giving up a 1st and a good prospect, this return wouldn't entice MTL at all

I loved Petry while he was here but he didn't want to be here anymore and it showed in his play, therefore if we are taking him back I want more than a 2nd and a C level prospect I would want a 1st at least.

MTL aren’t getting a 2nd for Hoffman half retained & Ylönen
MTL will keep Hoffman and not resign Gurianov
Farrell didn’t surpass Ylönen, only RHP did

We'll take more for sure i just used this as a starting point but my priority was Cap Retained above all else so we can RS again trading him as a pending UFA later.
If his issues were not specific to Ducharme i'd be right there with you.
Given his situation i woulda figured what coach was there wouldnt have mattered , but it did.

Mostly i want this trade as it by proxy raises Harris's value aswell also giving him a real shot at staying if he hits another level and MTL might just develop Huston as a RD as we have to teach him to play defense anyways before he hits the NHL. Even if we trade Harris and he's not longterm part of our team this will make what we get much higher then skating beside Savard or Wideman or Kovacevic.

The 2nd if for Ylonen and knowing ARZ will flip Hoffman for atleast a 2nd round pick at 1.125m after they RS MTL got upgraded from a conditional 3rd to a 2nd with no strings.
ARZ needs bodies to start the season and this way unlike Free Agents you're done within a couple months of getting them and make a profit off them.
MTL did it with Dadanov getting a player who whether you like or not is irrelevant as MSL glows in interviews about how they're helping him unlearn bad habits and really like him in MTL.To be fair at 2.9m i dont want him either , but i also didnt want Armia back over Lehkonen and here we are back in reality where that's the case.

Hahahahahaha you compared a played 3 games in to Ylonen 3-4 years in
Not responding to this section in principle as its a Ludicrous concept to argue , Although it does explain why you like Hoffman over Gurianov choosing Age and a pending UFA over Speed,Size and Goalscoring
Farrel came from a system where 1-2 guys a team play this fast now even the 13 forwards and 7th D play at a high impact pace.
It took Caufield what 5-6 games before he found consistency toward the end just before we went to the playoffs .
3 games and he wasnt a liability , he got a goal and his linemates are on point streaks ... what a horrible start right ?
We only gave Ylonen 3 years Pro in Liiga , 3 years Pro in North America but giving Farrell more then 3 games , inconceivable lol

I get you like Ylonen so did i the first few years.
Now he's in Heineman's and Teasdale way with both being superior players in every aspect doing more at every level quicker and more consistently .
Teasdale i expect to break first as Heineman's doing great but isnt a complete 200ft player yet even though there's a good foundation.
Teasdale on the other hand had been building towards this moment for 2 years since he had a Set back before the Pandemic then was off during he fell behind but quickly caught back up. The upside we got a Jacked Up Joel Teasdale now who's like Suzuki under 6ft but heavy for his size at over 200lbs of toned muscle . He doesnt start fights but boy o boy does he finish them but i'd describe him more like Marchand Lite with a great shot , speed and the ability to Piss Off Everyone .

RS allows MTL to move Petry as a pending UFA after this season at the caphit of 2.43m to a contender.
If he can rebound like i know he can beside Edmundson again or Harris now , either way we're looking at a huge return .
I mean i'll gladly take more now as long as it means RS is still happening but really the more Salary we get them to retain the better return we get later on
We need a stop gap RD anyways as Mailloux will need atleast 1-2 years in the AHL if for no other reason then to make Bettman look good before approving him .

But if PIT will give up a 1st and RS ill take it

I can't keep reading you delusional takes
You don't understand anything, you just go off

I will go quickly on a couple points :

If Hoffman gets injured badly, ARI won't be able to move him at the TDL. They won't take that risk. They ain't paying **** for Hoffman

I don't think Ylönen will be better than Farrell, but right now Ylönen is playing well, won't be waivers exempt next year

Farrell is waiver exempt, so he will start in the AHL

Heineman is waiver exempt, he will start in the AHL if he doesn't return in the SHL

I don't think Teasdale does anything special in training camp, he will be a 2nd or 3rd liner in Laval next season

Expect RHP, Ylönen, Pezzetta & Pitlick to fight for a roster spot or 13th forward

You know Caufield Suzuki Dach Anderson Slafkovsky Dvorak Gallagher Hoffman Armia Evans are locked if no trades happen

That leaves two roster spots for the names mentionned above and maybe Gurianov

Lol that’s cute that you think y’all unleashed Matheson. The pens did that last year and they still traded him. The pens don’t want Matheson back. He is a dumpster fire defensively unless paired with a certain type of RD that the pens just don’t have.
You guys have fun with Matheson 👍. Glad he is working out for ya

I dont you guys do look at your boy's post's for PIT
Im good keeping him but IF and i mean IF i have to see these trades all the time
Im atleast going to established the minimum starting package that gets us talking .

We'd rather the French guy who's Wife didnt insult half our Nation and its leaders , less baggage .

Like i said IF you guys want him thats the bar.
If not , stop trading back for Matheson before the 1 year term has been completed as its what makes you seem desperate to get him.
Why wouldnt we take advantage?

Also Matheson played well beside all 3 of our RD as no one's been healthy long enough to do otherwise.
None of them are the same type of defensman you elude to and he's even played well on Ghule's Right side.
He was probably the best beside Harris and Savard though but i wouldnt say more productive just able to play up to 25 minutes vs 21-22 with Barron and Kovacevic

He actually really liked playing here and was fantastic last season. Should have been Letang's partner this season, but Hextall is a moron and a terrible GM.

Petry loves playing anywhere.

While he was no showing on the Coach and his wife was losing it online
Petry was doing interviews and being very professional to ignorant comments .
They'd ask why he couldnt control his wife and he' just laughed and wen ' oooo k hahahah'

His dad was a long time Pro in a sport thats fanbase dwarfs ours .
His run in EDM was bad but you'll only hear him say positive things about it in MTL interviews .
Constant Professional who just wasnt mysoginistic enough to tell his wife to be quiet and stop posting online.
Instead he did his best to not get into it until he had no choice and at that time changes were being made to management and Hughes took a pass on the Drama.

A single Jeff Petry doesnt have the same issues or get traded from MTL
That said his wife was Pregnant and hormonal in a pandemic so i get the Anger being denied her husband.

Yes i did in plain English
I did not however say anywhere he out produced a 3 year Veteran SMH Wow .
Reading Comprehension i required on my posts cause i say what i mean and mean what i say.
No Inference or Assumptions needed , just the Ability to Read and Absorb my statements, as i do yours. .

His Contract dictates he did
If not Hughes wouldnt be burning 1 year off his ELC like he did Harris or MB did with Caufield
Instead like Dobes and Struble he'd have signed a deal starting next year and a AHL deal to the seasons end .

How a Contract is structured lets you know intent as does history and interviews with Coaching /Management and when asked about future pieces to build on who's mentioned (and who's never not once been mentioned by MSL or Hughes during said questions)

Oh hell no he shouldn’t have been Letangs partner. That pair got exposed and was one of the two reasons the pens couldn’t finish off the rangers in the playoffs last year. Him and Letang were an absolute clusterf**k in the d zone.

He was probably the best beside Harris and Savard though but i wouldnt say more productive just able to play up to 25 minutes vs 21-22 with Barron and Kovacevic

I’m not trading back for Matheson and anyone doing that is silly. Petry has been much better than Matheson so why would the pens want to trade back even 1 for 1? Much less with retaining salary and 1st round picks. That’s silly. Only a guy like Makar is worth that.
On top of that Matheson’s contract sucks money wise. Worse than Petry’s.
With the pens trading Marino, they just don’t have the defenseman on the right side to pair with Matheson in the top 4. And they don’t want to pay Matheson to play 3rd pair or bump Ruhwedel/Friedman up to top 4.

Just in case you want context as to why Petry has been better than Matheson.

Oh hell no he shouldn’t have been Letangs partner. That pair got exposed and was one of the two reasons the pens couldn’t finish off the rangers in the playoffs last year. Him and Letang were an absolute clusterf**k in the d zone.

They controlled shots at 54%, scoring chances at 54%, and high danger chances at 64%. Don't mistake terrible goaltending for bad defensive play.

I’m not mistaking bad goaltending for poor defensive play. They were terrible in the defensive zone. They both need defensive d partners to play their game effectively and not get taken advantage of in the d zone.
