Move out wingers, I love brock, and we can fit his cap, but I think that he should get a fresh start, I still think he could get 30, but I think now is a good time to break things off, his value is on the rise, but we need to open up a winger spot. I don’t know if Iorio would be a piece that WASH would like to part with but I think that value wise it is there, a 2nd and a prospect for brock, a 4th liner and a 4th.
Myers is explained in trade
Compher is the piece we need, he isn’t very old, but he is a good 2 way player, good FO%, decent size, and we need a player of his ilk, I think that 5.5 is what he would be looking for on the open market as that is just a touch below Copp and Copp plays with a bit more of an edge.
I think that we should try to run Martin back in the pipes, he has been a .950 goalie over the last few weeks in the A and he was great when he was backing Demko up, but crumbled when he was told to do more. Martin will back up
I was considering buying out Pearson and Poolman, but if they stay on LTIR then they will not be bought out, as they need to pass a physical to be eligible
I think that Podz with a real line mate on the other side and a real winger will allow him to pop off next season, as well as help to boost the numbers on garland.
Krafty will be an interesting case, I think that if he stays in town he could come back a sold 40 point player but he just seems a little bit lost at times when he’s out there.
Miller has done best this season when he has had someone who can find him on his line, right now that is Boeser, PDG will “fetch the puck” Hogs will find miller and miller will be able to create from there. I think that having miller be Hog’s Centre will help him be more disciplined and not blow the zone so quickly, I also think that the overall Tocchet, system will be a place that Hogs thrives in as there is a large amount of emphasis on defensive positioning and transitioning, things that hogs struggled with.
On the blueline we have Iorio as the newcomer, paired with Hughes as he is a Schenn analogue, then there is OEL’s saviour, Hronek, and Bear will be down on the 3rd pair, and then Johansson and Rathbone will be the 7-8 guys who will slot into the lineup
This team is better than what we have now, this will be a big off season for Patty and the coaching staff, I think that if players put in the work this team could be on the right track to competing in 2 years.
Will have 37M of contracts next year, Have shown to value money over cap space, 1m owed, 6m cap hit, they aren’t going to spend all the way to the floor on UFA’s because that would cost more money
Hawks have too many D prospects to allow TMyers on their team. Go to AZ.
Heck you could throw him at forward, and I am not saying that he has to the windy city, but he takes up a good chunk of the salary cap, if you only have ELC’s on your roster you wont hit the floor
Hes looking to set a new career high in points this year
Bjorkstrand was coming off a career high in points while being much better defensively and only got a 3rd and a 4th. Middle 6 wingers with high cap hits and term don't have much value

Also teams won’t help other teams who want to move cap for what amounts to “just because”. Hawks would much rather reward their veterans or young players (real money not a consideration) than take another teams anchor just to meet the cap floor.

Context, CBJ was (surprisingly) over the cap and NEEDED to ship a guy out, so they got pennies on the dollar, we are currently under the cap given Poolman and Pearson are on LTIR and we will probably be able to move off the Myers contract for free

If real money isn’t a consideration then why was Borgstrom bought out? It cost 366k in real dollars to buy him out but they would have been free and clear of the cap if they shipped him to the A, it was a real money buyout, this ownership wants to save money where they can, if they will save 600k on a guy what makes you think they wont go to save 5M? I am not saying he is GOING to go to CHI, but it looks like an awful good fit, I get you want to promote from within, but you need to reach the floor, and aside from paying Jones and Anderson 5M each, how else are you going to get there?
I think it's good value for Brock. hes a good player. It's just that the caps are likely not a contender let alone playoff team for maybe the next 5-10 years so I don't think it's worth it for them.

whilst there is some validity to what your saying, it would be unwise for the hawks to just help out VAN for no reason. It would be a big let down if this sort of move were to occur.

Mentioned this in your other quote on another thread so there is no sense in me repeating myself when you’ll read them at the same time

Very fair, I just thought that they would want to give Ovie every shot they can to get as many goals as possible and break every record he can
