I wouldnt want Mantha
We dont need him long term and after his term we wont re-sign him.

I guess i dont get the Why here as Hoffman can easily get more then Mantha after we RS on him .
Its no like he offers more then Anderson , Gurianov or Armia

I know... with a lot of injuries... one year doesn't hurt!
Better then having Drouin, Hoffman, Dandonov etc...

not sure I follow you... Hoffman are not getting more as I added Norlinder as I think Mantha as more value.

The spot with Caufield and Suzuki has been a revolving door for a while. Anderson, Hoffman, Pitlick, Drouin and none of them have truly fit until they tried Dach there. They're a dangerous duo offensively but they need a defensively responsible complement who excels in possession, and Mantha is closer to the first list than Dach in that matter.

Literally the only trade i would consider for mantha is a one for one for armia.

The cap space is worth more than mantha is

What im saying is no one pays for a Goal Scorer who doesnt score goals in the playoffs on 2 teams now.
His Lazy style of Hockey is why MTL interviews players before they join MTL.

Hoffmans a lot of things but his effort is never lacking and put him in a playoff and he'll score.
So i ask you , if you're building a contender do you pay more for the Proven Playoff Goalscorer or the Proven Playoff ghost ?

Washington are looking to shred some $ cap-wise for next year needs and Mantha as under-performed laziness & injury prone.
Hoffman is a goal scorer, big time lazy guy... but rarely injured

Absolutely correct.
Dach's ability to be top in the league at Zone Entries in the Offensive and Neutral Zone's makes him unique.
That said Dubois is one of the best in the league at it with Debrincat not far behind him

RHP and Gally are just as good as Dach but we got no one on Dubois level

Hoffman isnt lazy just misused.
I mean it reminds me how Kessel was used in TML before going to PIT where he hit another level scoring career high numbers in the 90's after demoted from TML top line to PIT 3rd line.
When we got him Hoffman scorer 49.5% of all his points on the power play with his best seasons coming when he was in the 2nd/3rd line role leaving him fresh for Power Play.
No one was ever thinking about him on PK or in a defensive role because his impact on the PP was so consistent keeping him fresh was a priority.

Enter Alex Burrows from Team Karlsson when all that crap went down in OTT.
Only when the roster is historically injured do Hoffman get PP time in MTL , when we're healthy he gets none .
But he is on Penalty Kill now for the first time as a regular in his career and his defensive numbers have gone up.

Granted his 5v5 stats could be better especially his CF/FF% but his 5v5 close stats show a different story.
In Close games where MTL isnt blown out early his numbers are signifigantly higher.
Seems like he just gets bummed out in a blowouts which is a veteran isnt ideal but neither is keeping the Special Teams coach who has ranked 25th or lowers since coming into the league in PP and PK all but 1 playoff run where our PK stood out on a 3 pair rotation until we lost the depth to pull that off credibly .

I mean im not saying people are lining up to overpay for Hoffman
But at 50% RS and a pending UFA there's more then a half dozen teams who would take a chance on Hoffman for a 3rd and a prospect like our Norlinder who doesnt fit into our plans or system

Mantha i would want more then we got for Monahan
After all Monahan had hope of us getting him to rebound and trading him (Which coulda happened but we screwed it up )
We dont have that same chance here with Mantha as its not injuries holding him back or questions after surgery its his level of effort .
I'd want a 1st and a prospect or atleast a 3rd round pick

Montreal could resign Drouin then put him on a line with Mantha and it wouldn't matter who was at center it would still be the laziest line in the league.

Why gave up Harris. Trade Gurianov rights for Comtois.

Armia have negative value so wait for now before taking a bad decision.

Mantha unecessary trade but A for the effort.
