Because we all know that the Vrana situation had something to do with his time in Washington, And Kuznetsov was a large part of it like it or not. And if Detroit's not going to tolerate it with Vrana they sure won't tolerate with Kuznetsov.

Vrana's situation was one of lazy on-ice play and clashing with Laviolette's system, not due to anything related to Kuzy or off-ice actions. Kuzy's play has rubbed management the wrong way at times but that varies by team and by system, and Kuznetsov is a well liked player among players and coaches even with his struggles this year.

One video 5 years ago, nothing since, must mean he's pounding coke every single day. There is no proof he still does it today and if it affected his play, it might have been positive (had his best year in 2018, the year of the video). Plenty of athletes in decades previous had successful careers (hell, Tim Raines had some of his best years as an Expo while lugging it around in his back pocket) using it, and there's no proof he still does, so I don't see how any team views it as some evil value negator.

It was more than just one video 5 years ago, it was a league wide issue with him being a coke addict it's not just a one time thing. Try googling him it was very pronounced over quite a bit of time.

how about you show any of that proof? There is nothing to suggest that the league had an issue with it, let alone having any proof more than the video that came out in 2019 (filmed in 2018). Just because fans freaked out about it doesn't mean there is any tangible evidence that the guys value was lost due to that, let alone that it is still lost now over 4 years later.

He also voluntarily went to the NHL's education program about it and has never tested positive since. I'm not sure how a ban from international play, which teams don't really like players competing in anyway, removes trade value from teams especially when he has never tested for it again.

Caps are getting a much better return for Kuz if they are wating $2M. They'd get a 1st+2nd at least. I like Schmaltz but Caps need to aim higher at guys like Keller, Ehlers, Nylander, etc.
