This Hawks team is winning their way out of the Bedard race. Richardson is the man and hopefully the coach here for a long time but the pain needs to get even worse next year. Tank for Celebrini is on

Hawks select Zach Benson 5th Overall and send him back to the CHL. Korchinski stays int he CHL 1 more year and Nazar goes back to Michigan. Kaiser takes one year in Rockford with Del Maestro and Allen. Phillips. Vlasic, and Regula are ready to make the jump

B’s not using a 3rd to save 333k next year. That’s his buyout cap hit.

Agreed, but don't forget the $1M the following year.

Hawks can take on dumps, but we shouldn't be in on Mike Reilly. We need to develop our own prospects. Phillips/Vlasic/Jones should be our LD next year imo. Let Del Mastro/Kaiser play a year or two in Rockford. Korchinski/Allan the following year. LD is just too full at the moment.

25 3rd is a pretty light price. to be honest if the price was really this low it would have happened already

There is really no need for Caleb Jones to be back on this roster next year

Ok, that's fine. I can get behind that, but then let Roos/Galvas have turns. Two more LD in their system. I just think we need to show our own prospects that we'll at least to give them a chance. We've been messing up Mitchell's development earlier in the year just having him as a healthy scratch. We can't keep doing that.

The cap should go up enough by then that it’s minimal effect.

Not really. B’s would rather just keep him buried as insurance policy for playoffs. His contract has not been a hinderance to the point of preventing them from making moves they wanted to. Now that his term disappears and only 1 year left the cost of moving him goes down as well. I don’t see them doing any less than future considerations. Same way Wild moved Kulikov with 1 year and similar cap hit last offseason. Otherwise they just buy him out.

Not necessarily. Sweeney likes to have defensive depth, especially during the playoffs. Its not the Reilly isn't an NHL caliber d-man, its that he doesn't have a role in the Bruins line-up because Grz is basically playing the role Reilly would play. Add to that his cap hit and that's why he's in the AHL. The reason he did get claimed, well his real money owed is $4 million on a $3 million cap hit.

I'm just worried that having 5 "rookies" and S Jones could be bad for development also. Need a few vets in the room

I mean, YES Boston is making it work, but let's be honest with each other. It's because of 2 reasons and ONLY those two reasons. Krecji and Bergeron signed contracts WAY under their value. I don't disagree with anything either of you said. Without the gifts those two gave to BOS and their fans...this would be a very different story.

I don't consider Mike Reilly a the "veteran" presence needed. I get he's a Chicago kid and that might be some reason to bring him in...I guess, but he's also the guy Bowman went after in 2015 because we needed a younger dman at the time and he politely declined to go play where his dad was with the Wild.

What’s your point? They are going to pay for that next year when their 4.65 bonus overages have to be applied to next years cap.

If it was not for the injuries to Mac and Grizz to start the season Reilly would have been traded in the offseason and we would not be having this conversation.

Ifs and buts….

Because THAT'S how Boston is "making it work". Not saying it's a problem, but this isn't some GM wizardry. BOS isn't forced to dump Reilly because of the gifts from PB and DK.

Um...yeah...there's a reason Mike Reilly hasn't been dumped with pick being sent. It's PB and DK. Nothing to do with Mike Reillys AHL abilities.
