Let me know your thoughts @MoxNix @OilFire @TheLand

MTL Fans, don’t forget you’ll be getting Ruzicka, then PLD next off-season and you’ll probably end up keeping and re-signing Monahan for another season too, so giving up Dach isn’t a Big Deal

If the Lucic Trade doesn’t happen, I’d Trade for a Physical FaceOff Winning, Defensively Responsible 4C (Lafferty, etc.) move Dube to LW with Lewis/Duehr/Ritchie/Coronato competing for 4RW

I think the value is off for Meier, but, if you take out kunin, then maybe. Like the idea though

Leafs trade doesn't make much sense for them. Sure Weegar is a better defenseman but trading 2 defensemen off your roster for 1 still leaves a hole. The Holl part of this trade doesn't make much sense but the Leafs would need about 550k to keep him. That's how this likely looks. Sandin, Villeneuve and a 1st for Weegar with a bit retained.

Flames could use a 3rd Pairing RD. TOR has Timmins & Benn and Weegar will play LD or RD, so Holl could be expendable, especially if TOR acquires Schenn who’s Cap Hit is only $850k

CGY could retain on Weegar for this year only, but depending how much, it’d likely cost another 4th or 5th RD Pick or Equivalent Prospect

Schenn isn't going to slot into the top 4 the way Holl would. You seem to think the Leafs don't have confidence in Holl but the front office and coaching staff have shown nothing but confidence in him. They are looking for a defenseman to push a 39 year old Giordano down so he's not playing 20 minutes a night against tough competition, not Holl. With Weegar added, that likely pushes Brodie down to play with Holl. The retention wouldn't cost anything, it would be the cost of doing business for the Flames.

      Depends where you play Weegar:

Doesn't matter where you play Weegar, its still a worse option than having Holl in the top 4. The lineup would be

      Rielly - Brodie(or Weegar)
      Brodie (or...) - Holl
      Giordano - Liljegren.

      It's the best lineup available.

LMAO so we give up 13th OVA to get Dach, then trade him, Anderson and 2 of our top 10 (maybe top 5) prospects for a severely overpaid Huberdeau + another small winger in Pelletier + a winger never cracking the Habs lineup in Ruzicka. Nah, Habs definitely pass on that thanks! You want to talk Anderson it starts with the 2023 1st + Boltman, you want to add Dach it costs Coronoto + Wolf, want Farrell added it will cost Zary, adding Kidney costs Pelletier. Basically those 4 pieces costs the Flames their future, not willing to do all that then go pound salt!

Best I could do is swap out Pelletier for Coronato, but MTL would also need to swap out Farrell with Beck

If you don’t think Dach is worth 13th Overall Coronato + Ruzicka, I don’t know what to tell ya 🤷‍♂️ There’s additional value in getting 2 Young NHL Players for 1/2 the Cap Hit of Dach. You’re way off on and clearly don’t know Ruzicka or understand the fit

Huberdeau is over paid compared to who… Josh Anderson!? If anything they’re both over paid, but Huberdeau has a much higher ceiling and probability to get back on track for 1.00PPG+, something I just can’t see Josh Anderson ever doing

So if you don’t think French “SuperStar” Jonathan Huberdeau is worth 0.40PPG Josh Anderson + Owen Beck + Riley Kidney, again, I don’t know what to tell you 🤷‍♂️

I got the impression from most Leafs Fans that they couldn’t wait to get rid of Kerfoot’s Cap Hit and Holl for his consistent gafs, giveaways and fumbles

Reilly, Brodie, Giordano, Liljegren and Sandin are all better than Holl, no!? He seems to be your 6th or 7th D-Man. Weegar would easily be your #2 and perhaps could even become your #1 D-Man 🤔

Leafs fans are dumb and pick a defenseman to pick on every season. Holl is the Leafs 2nd most used defenseman per game this season and the one who isn't heavily sheltered in offensive zone starts/competition. He is the anchor for the pair that matches up against other teams top lines every night on a team who's top 5 in basically all defensive metrics both fancy and normal. He is a better option than everyone except maybe Brodie. Next year Holl is going to sign a new contract that starts with a 5 and the reaction is going to be hilarious.

Fun looking flames team. Losing Hanifin sucks, but getting Chychrun to replace him cheaper, longer, don't have to worry about him walking, I'm ok with that. I don't think AZ does anything without a 2023 1st, they just keep him, maybe they flip Hanifin.

I like Weegar for Toronto, I don't want Holl, I've been hearing Dangle and Kyper both saying they don't want him in the lineup for playoffs. Super inconsistent, flashes of brilliance followed by shocking break downs. Sandin just gets banged up too often.

I think Toronto needs a good RD for Riley, Weegar would be great. (I don't think we should trade Weegs, 1 of 2 defenseman signed more than 2 yrs into the future)

Bump Brodie down and get Klingberg, klingy has defensive issues but hopefully brodie smooths that out. He should be relatively cheap too, no ones really talking about him.

Get Schenn for Gio, keep Timmins as 7th D.

I've looked at playing around with that idea for Toronto, never published it, didn't feel like dealing with the vitriol it would have drawn.

I don't know why MTL (a rebuilding team) not wanting to add a 30 year old with an 8 year contract is hard to understand.

Dach is 22 and could very realistically finish the season with more points than Huberdeau, he's a guy MTL want to build around and is extremely unlikely to trade. That seems pretty simple to me.

      Slafkovsky-Ruzicka-Mesar/Armia

There is no guarantee that Coronato or Roy are NHL ready and Mesar certainly isn't. Gallagher and Armia get injured for long stretches every single year so can't count on them. Hoffman has no business in an NHL top 6. Belzile is very unlikely to be in the NHL nest season.

I'd rather have the cap and Dach than Huberdeau.

Like I said above you don't like the counter offer go pound salt!

You never sent the 13th OVA pick just Pelletier + Ruzicka + Huberdeau who is overpaid by about 2.5 Mil compared to other top line wingers like Svechnikov, Marchand even Stamkos is paid 1.5 mil less than Huberdeau and all 3 of them are way better players. Compare that to the .5-1 mil that Anderson is overpaid by and the contract lengths and age difference when the contracts end and I will take Anderson over Huberdeau every time!

Trade 1 I'd do. It might seem a little light on the return for Huberdeau but he's overpaid by a million or so too so it's probably about right.
Trade 2 I wouldn't do. Weegar is by far the best player in that trade. He's on a fair value contract (not overpaid) and shouldn't be traded.
Trade 3 I wouldn't do. Maybe if the picks were the other way around but no way we're retaining on Looch taking on cap dump Kerfoot and trading down on picks too.
Trade 4 I'd do. Hanifin would be a pretty good direct replacement for Chychrun but I don't know if Arizona would be interested in a direct replacement.
Trade 5 I'd do. Two 1sts and Zary is fair value for Meier. I don't know if he'll sign an extension under 9 mil though, in fact it might take more like 9.5 mil.
      Trade 6 I might do.
Trade 7 I wouldn't do. It's the oilers after all the Flames aren't going to be doing them any favors like that.

Dach is worth Huberdeau + Rudzika (based on age, skill, contract, position and prime years), Anderson is worth Pelletier + 2023 1st (in the 20+ range). So that means Montreal is giving away half of Anderson’s valueand Farrell and Kidney for free, it's no wonder you would take that 1st package it is completely fleecing the Habs! It's kind of like us offering Caufield + Struble + Farrell for Lindholm + Hanafin + Coronato + Wolf, you wouldn't do it any more than the Habs would do this trade!!!

We’re not really in the mood to retain anyone’s salary for us when we still have to for Kane and likely Domi

CHI can only retain 50% on Kane MAX and NYR are going to need him 75% retained, so a 3rd Team will need to be involved.

I imagine NYR sends you something like Kakko (cap reasons) and Kravtsov and ask you to pay for the additional 25% retention.

CHI would still have 2 retention spots available to retain on Domi and AA or whoever after the Kane Trade
