There’s no chance he goes for more than this with his injury concerns and longterm contract into his late 30s . Just Thomson straight up for Parayko is a blues fleece. They’re trying hard to move a big money Dman to free up cap space and try to go 27 and under team. But it won’t be easy with the cap . If a guy like Meier and Debrincat aren’t going for massive packages , then I can’t see Parayko going for a 1st ++++

Dude no one is acquiring a Parayko signed into his late 30s with a huge contract and injury concerns. Even Thomson straight up is a blues fleece . Especially in a salary cap world. No chance any teams gives up a massive package. Even Seravalli said the main piece would be one of Brannstrom, Thomson or JBD. There won’t be a first round pick included

Right Thomson so far 5 points in 18 games, Zaitsev is pure garbage and a 2nd round pick. Sorry but it's rubbish. And Armstrong would easily turn it down.

I'd love it, but I think it would take at least 1 more first and another mid-place piece.

The blues are screwed on the back end with all those big contracts. In a salary cap world, I could see Armstrong desperate to move one of them for anything positive and create cap space.

Thomson could play 3RD next year and move up. They just can’t play 2 rookies/sophomores together and they won’t play JBD or Thomson with Sanderson on Brannstrom

Thomson is nhl ready but no space to play a rookie in ottawa with another rookie. Seravalli said a young piece like Brannstrom, JBD or Thomson is all it would take.

I don’t even want Parayko. He has injury concerns, overpaid and washed. At 5 mill, I’d probably consider it

The Parayko trade comparable is the Dion Phaneuf trade the Sens did . No one is giving u a haul for an aging player with a longterm contract

I wonder if Armstrong pulls a McDonaugh with Parayko. Just threaten to send him down until he accepts a trade. Using all those picks for players is gonna happen but he really needs that cap space.

We saw what McDonagh went for even if he was a really good player. I just don’t think anyone around 30 or more with a longterm deal is getting much in a trade

You're highlighting specific scenarios in which a guy was needed to be traded.

McDonough had to be traded for cap purposes and he was deemed the odd man out there.

Debrincat still went for a pretty big package. 7, 39 and a 3rd the next season. Chicago did this to full rebuild.

Blues are trying to retool not rebuild.

Wasn't it also reported that the Senators were willing to dump Zaitsev for a 2nd? So why in the world would the Blues trade their best defenseman while not trying to undergo a long retool for Thomson?

While I don't see Parayko going for a king's ransom at all like other Blues fans, he does go for more than this. We're talking a 1st, plus a Zaitsev/Cody Ceci/Tyson Barrie contract back plus a prospect.

I get it but those guys were traded for cap reasons which wouldn't be the case for Parayko. That's why I agree that overall, the only thing that would likely need to change is the pick.

I just look at the team:

Leddy - as unmovable as Gudbranson
Krug - no chance anyone takes him
Faulk - will never waive for anyone
Parayko - only guy that could be moved if a team is desperate imo.

They need to shed cap space on the back end . I can’t see any team taking on Paraykos full contract with 0 cap going back. And I also can’t see a team paying a 1st ++ for that contract . It’ll be a 2nd and a guy like Thomson

They don't need to shed cap space. Yes they would like to but not needed. That stated, I dont see Parayko waiving for Ottawa anyway.

I’m just not a fan of Parayko or Weegar because of their age and contracts.

I’d rather the Sens go after a Matt Roy or something

Yeah, and you would need to rise about 42 levels to reach haul. Nobody asked for a haul. You just put up a comically bad offer, pretended Parayko is a big fat dump... and placed him on your top pairing.
