Détails additionnels:
At WORST this is the trade for Meier. 32 thoughts says sharks may want all picks, this is it. All the picks from the Orielly and Tarasenko deals.

And honestly it’s a steal for St. Louis. They go from rentals in their 30s to a 26 year old star power forward with the ability to score 40 goals in a season.

They only have like 12 mil in projected cap this offseason, and half their roster expiring

Okay for all who seem to be confused, this is the rough makings of a trade, not the whole trade itself. I didn’t look at the blues page to see how sh*tty they lined themselves up next year and beyond. There are stupid trades of a late 1st, 2nd and depth players and that isn’t happening. If that was the ask a team would have Meier by now.

oh i'd love to hear how, because even if they all make league min that's just under 6 million dollars in space used up. Now they have 2 mill in total space. so now they have to find 6 million dollars in space.
Their big money guys are either needed or incredibly hard to move. they dont got the room unless they really wanna mess up or pay someone a tone to take a bad contract

Why would the blues go over anticipated market value like that? They’d just be bidding against themselves then

All the people are trying to say is STL can’t do a deal for a player making 8 million or more per year unless they undergo major roster changes. Unless they plan on playing with 7 forwards next season.

I’m not their GM I don’t care how they do it. Probably starts with moving players not worth their contracts like scandella and Binnington. The blues are rumored in on Meier, I didn’t make those rumors, just going off them

Don't worry, Blues could figure out the cap. I just spent 2 seconds on a '23-24 team and a Scandella buyout plus Bolduc + Hofer promotions and Perunovich/Tucker extensions gets you to 20 players and about 4 million bucks leftover. And that's before Armstrong does the inevitable and figures out a way to escape from the top 4 he built.

As for a Meier trade, I agree with you this would be the floor. If it goes to the offseason, the comp would be Fiala which I'd peg around 2 late 1sts. At the deadline they could do better, I figure the Devils will pull the trigger.

What a move that would be turning two old rentals into Timo Meier. I feel they would have to move Binnington, but not sure what that looks like. I wouldn’t even want him back in a sharks deal with the 9th overall

well thats just it, it's not a rumour. It's frank servelli speculating because the blues have futures now. Literally no one else thinks this is a thing that could or will happen

Don't have to move Binner, but he is definitely not the best way to spend the money. Blues have a few guys under that umbrella tbh.

I'm not taking the Blues/Meier talks very seriously at this point but he is a really good player and I'm sure they'll do their due diligence.

The cap issue for the Blues isn't a large deal. I don't expect them to really spend in FA anyways. Did an ACGM here that made the cap work. The expectations for Meier's contract may be a bit low but there's also a little bit of wiggle room for the cap.

I think it’s a tough trade to make with the future in mind. 3 1sts in a draft like this is great to have, they should just build off that

For me, if they're going to spend the picks it needs to solve the defense (ex. Chychrun). The goal should be to fix the mess on defense and try to be competitive when Bolduc and Snuggerud come up and hopefully start to contribute. Meier rumors just seem like the insiders connecting dots between a team with picks that might spend them and Meier being OTB. Doesn't really fix anything for the Blues even though he is a great player.

They need to fix D, but likely can't because Army is an idiot who hands out bad contracts like they're candy. Great at trading, but on contracts.

LTIR cap space doesnt count in the off season and by next year Saad and Neighbours will be healthy so they have significantly less next year when it actually matters for re-signing Meier and everyone else
