This is not important trade. Mostly to show Van fans his true value. He has been terrible this year and injuried. Signed to multiple years. If he wants to get rid of his contract that is his value.

Mr. Krabs errr Pegula wants to do it without spending though. And all these moves require money.

I would look at that trade for Avs but it would be an offseason move. Need to see if Avs can get Compher and Rodrigues signed at a reasonable cap hit first. Casey would be a 3C replacement option IMO

Vancouver shouldn't be trading Demko right now. Even he has refuted the claim he wants out. And it's funny 15 bad games kills his value vs 2 years of showing his value.

For goalies I believe it does. He has to prove he can be a top goalie again before someone will be willing to trade top assets for him. Only handful of goalies are good for multiple years.

I don't expect them to spend to the cap in a rebuild, I will be upset if they don't make an effort (financial commitment) to win next year.

Going 7 years with Thompson, cozens and Samuelsson and not reinharting them is a positive sign

The fact that they haven't done it this year, when their playoff odds are real, is what worries me.

LIke if they were 7 pts back id say yeah no point giving away assets for 5% odds. But they control their own destiny, and are playing great hockey. It doesnt bode well for us long term if they balk at adding depth that costs them nothing in the way of significant assets but adds tangible value.

Fair, but making a move ahead of it might of helped more. A small losing streak and you already know the "we have to be patient, exceeded expectations, vibes" song and dance theyll give at the TDL.

You have nothing to back that up- absolutely nothing
Pegula has been willing to spend $$$ over & over & over again
He just authorized $$$ for Cozens
Before that for Tage & Samuelsson

U couldn’t be more wrong here

Vancouver sucks bad. It's not on demko, or any other goalie. Vancouver isn't trading demko. He will be back to his top 10 started for next yr.... hopefully.

It’s not “funny”
It’s common sense

NO ONE is going to pay full value for an injured goalie who has played like crap this year

VAN shouldn’t even consider trading him right now
They should wait till he’s healthy & has shown he can play well again- bc they just aren’t gonna get the return they’d want for him at present

For the record, it’s NOT Buffalo fans trying to get Demko
There’s literally dozens of posts from VAN fans trying to dump him to us for ridiculous returns

My favorite was a deal that had u guys getting 7 pieces back for him- yes, SEVEN
And those included: Savoie, Levi, and TWO 1sts

I’m sure u can see how laughable something like that is
And maybe now u can understand why @BigDog91 made this post to show what kind of price we might actually be willing to give for Demko at the moment- which is exactly why VAN won’t trade him right now
No reason to “sell low” on him either
Maybe at next deadline if he gets healthy & has a rebound season where he plays well
Then u guys could get a decent return for him that just won’t happen right now

No I think it's outside media spreading rumors that everyone wants out of Vancouver starting with their best players. I'm actually surprised there hasnt been like 5 or 6 saying Petey wants out. The plan from everything stated by Allvin/Rutherford have been along the lines of a quicker retool vs full on rebuild. Trading Demko turns this into a full on rebuild. And yeah if Demko gets traded should not happen until next years deadline at earliest after proving he's back to himself.

Thanks. I think most canucks fans still see demko as a top started since the team sucks. I wouldnt trade him this year (for van or the team trading for him). He needs to prove he's good to go.

Do they though? I mean, at the beginning of the season we were optimistic but didn't think we would be contending for a playoff berth at this point in the season. Is now the time to transition to "win now" mode? Usually that kind of switch is made by a gm who already has a playoff team but wants to improve it or add veteran presence. I'm not sure that's the Sabres yet.

It’s kinda weird to me that there’s been sooooo many VAN fans on here trying to trade him in the first place
Although i guess i understand it with the insane returns they think they can get back

Again though,
Buffalo fans aren’t under the delusion at all that u guys are just gonna dump him for cheap
We know it’s quite unlikely u guys trade him right now
And with 3 goalies already on our roster, plus Levi coming when his college season is over, we just don’t have any room to acquire a goalie anyways
