I don’t think the Canes would target Kane. Kane refuses to play defense, and there is his current injury problems as well. Plus, it’s quite unlikely he would waive for Carolina, especially since he seems to only want to go to NYR, Toronto, and Edmonton, as it currently stands. The injury problems would be the biggest turnoff for the Canes after seeing how they lost Patch’s.

The injury concerns are overblown, at least in my opinion. Valid concerns about the NMC and defense but I believe Kane would be a great fit and boost their power play enough to make up for any defensive laps. What’s not talked about enough is that Kane knows what it takes to win and he’s a smart player. I don’t want to suggest that he’s going to be a selke finalist on a playoff team but he knows enough to keep himself out of trouble.

I would agree that the injury concerns are slightly overblown, but at the same time, at least for the Canes, they can’t afford to pay for a guy only for him to play a couple of games and then sit on the shelf for a long time. It’s more about risk mitigation for the Canes, and Kane, as it stands, has a bit too much risk.

The hip thing can be managed like any other nagging injury if it’s even that level of a problem which for the record I don’t think it is.
