Money in Money out Off season

Description
Likely no changes this off season but hypothetically some avenues to improve without spending above what they have.

Labanc doesn't score like olofsson but his possession/shot quality numbers are way better which should help the second line (it already has plenty of shooting talent).

L3 and L4 get a makeover, will allow them to do more damage.

Goaltending unchanged not because they don't need it, but mostly cause there are no goalies available worth the price tag/risk.

Overall, this team would probably have a record like WSH this year heading into the deadline. Could make a move then if revenue goes back up.

Labanc has had a good year all things considered

His dad was in a coma to start the year
He just bought his first house in SJ
His wife is expecting any moment now
He's had a bounce back campaign
He's been consistently scratched due to SJ coaches hating him for "effort" reasons
And he's been the subject of trade rumours all year

Rough year for banker, a lot going through his head

Yeah... Evans could be move for that price. Great young C who played more of a Defensive role with habs. Habs would do it to free up space at C.

Evans will cost a 2nd or 3rd, maybe both. Personally I would trade him for say Portillo and a 2nd (2d is incase Portillo doesn't sign in Montreal either)

Oh I think he's been excellent, just the points haven't been there but that's not even necessarily his fault. Im mostly just taking advantage of the fact that the points are lagging behind his overall play.

I'd probably just give up the lowest 2nd from this years draft. Habs can sign Portillo in August if they want.

Not sure management would trade Dvorak & Evans
They are in the perfect chair (Dvo 3C, Evans 4C)
Free up space at C ? The closest one to be NHL ready is Owen Beck but he is only 18 yo, he won’t be a full time regular next year
MTL probably hold on to them, but getting a late 2023 2nd is for sure interesting

Yeah I know he's not actively available, but I figure at top 62 pick would at least be worth the conversation. Sabres are in a unique spot to do it cause they've made a ton of selections over the last few years and have a bunch of 2nd rounders.

Would rather they do it to land a guy who's a really good fit than a misfit via FA.

I'm expecting the habs to sign another veteran C in the offseason - Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak and a 4th experience C.

I think it's fair for Evans if the team is willing to move him, but I wouldn't count on it.

For sure it’s worth the discussion, it’s fair for sure

They could do that, trade Evans for a late 2nd round pick and sign a veteran guy who will replace Evans
Tough call, Evans is very well liked, plays with heart every shifts and he isn’t old

Interesting for sure

Yes a rough year for sure but this is a change of scenary deal for both players.

Personally I don't like the middle 6 Lines. 3 right shot Line 2, 3 Left shot Line 3. With yours, something like L 2 Kulich, Cozens, Lebanc/Quinn, L 3 JJ/Krebs, Krebs/Jost, Quinn/Lebanc.

I would project that Kulich becomes an NHL regular by the end of next season so that tracks for me. I just didn't include him b/c last time I did some weirdo went 30 posts deep about an 18 year old playing in the nhl (he'd be 19 by then but who am I to argue)
