Yeah, that's not getting it done. Carolina and NJ are the front runners and according to Lebrun Canes don't even require an extension. Safe to say Buffalo will have to come up with something big to get Timo and this isn't big at all.

I really wish Sabres fans would let the Chychrun idea go
Power doesn’t need an AllStar for a partner, we just need to find him his “Samuelsson”

Also, we can’t devote the amount of Cap it would take to have Dahlin AND Power AND Chychrun all signed to big $$$ deals in a couple years

Absolutely love the Meier idea though
Probably have to give a bit more though- I’m thinking:
-change the 2nd to a 1st
-swap out Johnson & swap in Portillo, as they’re looking for a good goalie prospect

I think that would get it done
Go Sabres!

Take it easy, that’s a high 2nd round pick
Regardless, switch it to a 1st & there little chance the offer gets beat- it’s not far off

Sabres are already maxed out on what long term deals they're going to give up with Dahlin and Power due up soon. They're going to be strictly money out for the next year or two.

The Sabres do not need Chychrun, and they certainly don’t need to overpay in assets to go get Timo Meier. As usual, it wouldn’t surprise me if the player or players the Sabres pursue at the trade deadline, Or target in free agency are players no one was talking about Buffalo going for.

A trade from the Canes would be a high 1st & Rosen tier prospect. That's not even that different from this offer.

There’s zero chance that Timo doesn’t get a 1st round pick yet bo Horvat, vlad Tarasenko and Ryan o Rielly all do as ufa.

We have like 40 million that season in cap space with cozens and thompson signed and elc replacements ready for mittelstadt, olofsson and thats before the cap goes up.

People need to look at what the cap will become in a year after players pay off the covid salary slide. We are likely to see a $95MM cap or higher in 2025-26 with some of that added next year. The Sabres have $18M in cap space now. That's in the ballpark of $30MM in cap the Sabers have to work with over the next few years to get everyone of quality tied up for a good ling time. And with the Ownerships handling of the Bills, it's clear they are not afraid of spending for talent, IE: Von Miller who didn't even play much.

Dahlin will likely see a $3MM-ish raise for seven year very soon and Power will see a similar $6MM Bridge. We will get $3MM or more back if we extend Okposo for another year or two. That's only $6MM of the $18MM Buffalo has in hand right now. Math people... It's not that hard. That still leaves them under the cap floor if any sizable cap move happens this offseason and well below the upper cap if it stays the same.

Buffalo seriously needs strength, blocking and hitting on the blueline. Chyc brings that with even more scoring potential with Dahlin and Powers. He transitions better then Power and would be an incredible influence on Powers growth. They have plenty of room and cash to get this done. They have room for one more good center with Thompson and Cozens signed. They have two or three in Savoie and Kulich. Both of those players will not fit in Buffalo long term. Use that positive potential now to bring in players who have already proven their ability to get it done in the Bigs.

Dahlin isn’t signing for 9 mil and power isn’t getting a bridged lol. But I was mostly referring to internal spending cap

They’re stretched thin given the expenses for the bills and the hit to their business. I think it will be like this till they can add a minority owner to the Sabres

Oh no doubt, but they also cost quite a bit to operate. My larger point is that the Pegula's aren't in a position to burn money like when they first took over. They operate two franchises and took a pounding during the pandemic financially. The revenue they're generating is mostly being put back into the Bills (because why wouldn't they, right?)

I think the difference is that they were burning money on crappy teams. They felt burned by it so they rebuilt everything. I think its different this time

I guess we'll see, but they're still operating like one. Tons of opportunities to add value on the margins that could make this a playoff team and they passed.
