Centre depth with gritt and secondary scoring. True shut down pair with physicality and a goalie with playoff experience. I think that makes them better lol

I think sandin is the best d man in this trade.

I get that there’s been all the deadline talk about gavrikov, but the overlooked thing with all the hype….he isn’t good.

This trade is impressively terrible for Toronto

Sandin is worth more than Gavrikov. Gavrikov is certainly more physical and better defensively. But sandin is the better skater, better offensively, and most important for value is younger and has multiple years of control

A significant downgrade at goalie for the Leafs. Murray is no world beater and has injury concerns but korpisalo is literally one of the worst goalies in the league. I swear people think he is good because of one playoffs in the bubble a few years ago and ignore the >150 games of the rest of his career. He is bad

Peeke is a fine 3rd pairing defenseman and kuraly is a good fourth liner.

So for that (a neutral swap at best at d, and a significant downgrade in net and two solid enough bottom of the line up players), you are trading 2 good prospects, a meh prospect and 2 firsts? What the heck?

Both teams say "hell no". Toronto's giving up too much of what they need and Columbus is getting too much of what they don't need in exchange for what they do.

You can always tell the people who don't know anything about Gavrikov when they try to label him as physical. Gavrikov doesn't even come close to Sandin's physicality. Sandin outhits Gavrikov by an almost 3:1 margin in hits/60. Gavrikov is a positional defenseman that gets by on his skating and game sense. His best offensive season, which was last year, is also better than anything Sandin has produced on a significantly higher scoring team while getting 36.1% of available PP time compared to Gavrikovs 1.8% PP time last year. Tell me again about these players please in all your vast knowledge of them.
