Nils barely showed anything in his time with the Rangers and got a 1st. Kravstov arguably has bigger potential upside. They are both good players and will be really good, but just aren't/don't fit on the team. I think Kravstov's value should start at a 1st round pick regardless if he's a healthy scratch or not. If he gets in more games, he should be better than what he is

NIls plays maybe the most premium position in hockey in terms of trade value, Krav plays the most depressed. They arent going to be comparable. He isnt worth more than a 3rd, which would be the cost of an offer sheet that NYR couldnt even match.

Lundqvist is a young, cost controlled RD. He has more value than Kravtsov does. I had him getting a 2nd but Drury got a 1st. Excellent GM'ing but I think Jimmy Nill is happy too. He knows how valuable good young RDs are. Schneider is better so Drury had an opportunity to cash in with Nils.

Yeah I would be shocked if he got anything higher than a 3rd. I would hope he trades him for another "bust" prospect on another team where both players may just need a change in scenery.

In Nils first season real chance in the league he's got more points per mins on ice vs all other Dallas defensemen who aren't Heiskanen. The first we got for him is more likely to never play a significant role in the NHL than be better than Nils. This is major cope. We suck at managing assets. If they were just confident in their vision they could leverage assets they don't envision using for missing pieces, but they're just kinda winging it.

It is just most people where saying the exact same thing about Nils. He is a bust, except Nils made it clear he wouldn't even report to the team. Etc, so it will be interesting what Drury does. He should try to trade him but doesn't necessarily have too.

Yes, but you need a chance to show that you can be real good. Maybe Gallant is over valuing his young players, like if you are not a point per game player I will send you down...?
I don't know what is up, but a lot of young players ask for a chance elsewhere.

It's like Walman in Detroit. He never really got a good opportunity in St. Louis to prove himself. Stuck way down in their depth chart. Yzerman saw potential and acquired him in the Nick Leddy trade.

Walman has exceeded expectations and should be re-signed. He's been an excellent partner for Seider who had no chemistry with Ben Chiarot.

It's more about what was sent to the NYR rather than Nils performance. When a player asks for a trade...that can't crack an NHL roster...how does a 1st round pick even get brought up with a serious face? Kudos to Drury! Nils is in a good spot too. Suter next to him should help his longer term development. It's just...WOW that was an overpayment.

I agree with you that 1st round picks are magic beans, but it's a bit tough to hear that from a NYR fan right now because if you look at the past few weeks of NYR posts...1st round picks seem to be worth more than gold itself when the Rangers are sending them away at the TDL. I guess that could go for most fan bases to be fair...just seems a bit "prisoner of the moment" type of thing to say because this particular fan base is looking to have it both ways at the moment.

We traded nylander after his d+3 season. He also had 2 years left on his elc due to his contract sliding as a teenager on loan to the ahl. He also had 86 AHL points as a 18-21 year old before being traded

Kravtsov is in his d+5 season and has less production and a much different contract status

The reason Nils went for a 1st is because he was a desirable player. They would have been able to get something similar for him for somewhere else. Dallas had interest in him at the draft, as did Nils for Dallas. He went where he wanted to go. This "can't crack an NHL roster" talk is silly. It goes to show you that people don't really have a good handle for what they're supposedly spending all their time consuming.

As for Dallas' return, I go back to what I mentioned before. They traded a first for a young, cost controlled RHD who is contributing NOW. Overpay? No, they underpaid for Nils. It's not a rental deal. Apples to oranges. I would even say that NYR are probably valuing Jones the same way, even if, to people on this website, he "can't crack an NHL roster".

I mean...he didn't crack an NHL roster with the Rangers...so I'm not sure why the quotes are in there and all this rumor stuff. Schneider beat him out...It's a fact, not a hypothetical or theoretical or anything remotely muddy. Fox, Trouba, Scheider...Nils didn't like that he was going to be the continual healthy scratch and/or potentially sent back to Hartford...so he requested a trade. Anything else is a lie. Point Blank. DAL giving him an opportunity is the same as Alex Nylander getting a chance in CHI...Lias Andersson with the Kings...and so on so forth. Extremely common stuff. Phillip Danault with MTL is a good example of success. Whether or not Nils had success is a different story. Kudos to him for making the most of his chances. This is why it was and still is an overpay.

You don't get it. Nils for a 1st is a steal everywhere, not just Dallas. Nils chose Dallas. Sam talked about it on air for like 5 minutes. Having 4 NHL caliber RHD doesn't make him "unable to crack a roster" it just means NYR had 4 NHL caliber RHD. He's not going back to the AHL. He wasn't a reclamation project like Lias or Nylander.
