Now I put Marino in because Severson seems like such a big part of the Devils and someone who would be a life long Devil. If they do decide to re-sign Sevo long term, NJ would have Hamilton, Severson, and Marino under contract with guys like Nemec and Walsh ready to make an impact. From a development standpoint, it would be smarter to sign a cheap guy like Schenn or something to bridge to play that depth role and eventually allow Nemec to play into that role. Marino would be the odd man out if the do decide to keep Severson, and would be a great target for the Canucks. A right side of Bear, Marino, and whoever they draft this season (Reinbacher, Sandin Pellikka, etc.) would be a huge upgrade from what they have now.

If Severson is signed and not Graves, I would make the exact same trade for Ryan Graves with an extension in place. A left side of Hughes, Graves, and EP2 in the future would also be a big upgrade.

Boeser has played so much better in the past few games on a line with actual players. It's hard to produce on the wing with Sheldon Dries and Dakota Joshua, look at Kuzmenko right now. But in the past few games, Boeser has earned the extra ice, looking more engaged at both ends of the ice. Boeser has 7pts in his last 5 and 9pts in his last 10, on pace for a 57 pt season. If Boeser puts up 10-15 goals in this last stretch he will play himself and the Canucks out of retention and into a good package.

More than anything it shows how professional and relentless of a player Boeser is. Despite all the trade talks the past three years, the demotions to the third line under Travis Green and Bruce, the horrible linemates and injuries he's had, he still put up 35pts in 45 games in what many consider a "down year." Imagine how productive he would be playing with Hughes or Hischier on a winning team?
