Description
Huberdeau is a better playmaker than Nylander so I think he will gel with Tavares and/or Matthews a lot more since they both like to shoot.

1 - In what world is Willy worth that much more than Huberdeau? Good grief, man.

2 - The Blues do not want Robertson as value in a deal. If you want to toss him as nothing, fine. Otherwise, no deal.

Huberdeau has not worked out in Calgary. He has negative value.

Because they have two goal-scoring centers making 11 million each who both need to be fed. The Tavares-Nylander combo is good, but Tavares needs a playmaker on his wing.

tears of joy

You are hilarious. From main piece in a Tkachuk trade to "negative value" amounting to an all-star level player in six months.

Just curious, do you smoke ribs in a microwave? You seem in an awful hurry.

Marner can definitely play with either Matthews or Tavares. Nylander works with Tavares and Matthews as well. He's more of a playmaker with Tavares and more of a shooter with Matthews.

They can't afford having two 11m scoring centers and two 10.5m+ playmaking wingers.

Ask Flames fans how they feel about Huberdeau. I bet a majority want to get rid of him before his extension kicks in.

After next year Nylander is going to demand a contract similar to that so holding onto him would be a mistake by Dubas. Nylander on his current contract is one of the best trade chips in the league.

By trading him now for a guy like Huberdeau enables the Leafs to stay competitive while addressing other areas, like the defense and prospect depth.

They also can't afford Nylander beyond next season. Dubas needs to think ahead for once.

Would be over the cap next year, the year after that would be the least of worries.

Plus, giving Nylander 10.5mx8 at 28/29 is better than having Huberdeau for 10.5mx8 starting at 30/31.

Yes, Nylander is the better player and more valuable long term, but the trade is not one for one. The Leafs address other areas in this trade that will make them more competitive.

This is the dumbest thing I have read on this website in months. If we were all as reactionary as Leaf fans the NHL would be a disaster.
1. Andersson isn't going anywhere. Andersson for Nylander straight up would be a questionable trade for the Flames at best.
2. The Flames 1st this year shouldn't be going anywhere
3. Zary as a little toss in is so dumb
4. Huberdeau will be fine, its worth way more to Calgary to see if he bounces back to career averages (73 pts/82 games) than what you think it would cost to move him.
5. A whiney select group of Flames fans want him gone. The vast majority of the fan base can live with a down year at 5.9M.

I feel for Flames fans. But the quicker the Flames move on from Huberdeau the better. Sometimes big trades just don't work out for both teams. Look at the Hall for Larsson deal, Hall went on to win a Hart, and the Oilers moved on from Larsson.

Hall was in NJ for less time than LArsson was in Edmonton!? Larsson elected FA?! What are you talking about! HAHAHA, Larsson was a perfect defensive D man for the Oilers for 6 years, I would have rather they held onto Hall as opposed to getting Larsson as someone who doesn't want to see them succeed. Hall had an MVP season and then went on to have 5 years of 0.75ppg while getting bounced around the league, if Huberdeau even performs slightly below his career average (0.89) and the cap getting a huge bump over the next decade, Huberdeau is fine. Just admit how badly you want Andersson and quit making stupid posts to justify it.

The point was that Florida won the trade. Calgary gave up an MVP calibre player in Tkachuk. Holding onto Huberdeau just because or with the hope that he will become what he was on the Panthers is a mistake imo.

1. Andersson for Nylander would be a laugh from Dubas. Calgary would have to add a lot more and frankly, Toronto should be looking for a guy like Andersson in the first place whereas Calgary would get the better player and fill the position they need
4.10.5mill for someone who's entire job is to pass when he isn't one of the best at that is a little steep. I feel as though Huberdeau would get (from the Leafs perspective): Muzzin+2023 first+Knies+2024 first for Huberdeau (10% retained) or something like that

You joke, but I think the Flames and Leafs are good trading partners, as they have been in the past. The Phaneuf deal was a great deal for the Leafs back in the day. I think there's a trade that can benefit both teams.

Calgary moved the best player in the deal, obviously, no one has said they didn't. You're saying if Tkachuk wins an MVP and then plays at a 0.75 ppg clip for the rest of his deal while the team he is with plays 5 total playoff games the Panthers should consider that a wildly successful deal? That's the Hall deal in a nutshell. The Florida pick could be a 2026 lottery pick for all you know, Cole Schwindt could end up being the best piece that comes to Calgary, we are seven months post trade and you're crowing a winner. I get it's your opinion, but your opinion is really really stupid. As mentioned, if we were all as reactionary as Leafs fans we would be a disaster.

"The course of this ship can't be righted. Burn it. Start over. Trade the core. Can't win with them. Get rid of them. Get rid of Shanahan. This time, build a team with a GM and a coach who have grey hair. The general manager and coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs shouldn't be learning on the job."

This is your take from November about the Leafs.. A team that's on pace to nearly match a franchise record for points in a season. Give your head a shake, calm down.
