Yeah, Schenn may have been high. The way I see it is that Calgary has a 2 year window to contend. Most contracts come off the books at the same time and Calgary will never do a full rebuild. Konecny is consistent and better than Boeser in my opinion. Moving Markstrom and Coronato freed the cap space to resign Meier. Hart is serviceable until wolf is ready. Perhaps San Jose wants Pelletier as well. I just figured Philips should be traded because there is zero chance he signs with Calgary after this year.
Schenn will be in demand but why give up a good asset like a 2nd for a rental!? There’ll be cheaper alternatives and we can try to sign Schenn for free in the off season
Konecny’s going to be expensive to acquire. Boeser will be much cheaper and probably $1mil retained, even Garland would be cheaper to acquire. Again, save the top assets for a bonafide star.
Markstrom might be impossible to trade with his NMC. He’s in full control as to whether he gets moves. Only reason I’d move Coronato is if he’s like Adam Fox and refuses to sign & play in CGY
I’d move Zary over Pelletier, because we’re set at Centre with Lindholm, Kadri & Backlund for the foreseeable future. Yeah, I don’t see why Phillips would want to stick around, since he’ll have MUCH better chance of playing in the NHL anywhere else. Phillips doesn’t hold much, if any, trade value, so he’d be a throw in. Probably better to keep him, so maybe the Wranglers keep him to try and win the AHL Calder Championship
