-Edmonton would probably need some combination of retention & sending cap back in an Edmundson deal - even if Yamamoto is out for the rest of the regular season, they only have about $1.125M in cap space to play with right now. I'm sure they'd send back a guy like Warren Foegele or Puljujarvi to make it even out.

-Philadelphia is a team in clear need of a rebuild and shouldn't be trading *any* futures right now; unfortunately everyone in the world but their GM sees that. I still don't think he makes this deal, but I'm not confident enough to bet against Chuck Fletcher making a bad decision.

-Take out Levi and the Sabres would consider it - Armia's a cap dump they don't need, and Kidney probably equals out to the pick value that Buffalo would look for in taking that contract off your hand. I can't see them parting with Levi at this point, though - if the worst case scenario happens and it turns out he doesn't want to sign, they'll do what Minnesota did with Jack McBain last year and trade his rights for a pick/prospect to a team that Levi would want to sign with instead of this kind of negative value deal.

Caufield is too high, bring his AAV to 7.5-8 mil based on the Cozens extention of 7 years x 7.1 mil

-Edmundson has back issues, I don't think the Oilers would be interested at any price.
-Yamamoto is due to return on Sunday. He's traveling and practicing with the team. They need to clear cap space, even a cap-in/cap-out deal doesn't work for them right now.
-The Oilers have Nurse, Kulak and Broberg all signed through next season (at least), while they may pick up some insurance at LHD this deadline the extra year on Edmundson's contract is a negative.

I just don't see a fit.

Edmundson half retained for a first and Foegele or Poolparty and maybe a 4th or 5th cuz extra year of retention would do it, habs could add a prospect in Norlinder or Ylonen to even things out.
Dvo gets a 2nd.
Armia a cap dump so just keep Armia.

Edmonton already has Nurse, Broberg and Kulak signed for next year and beyond, they aren't paying a 1st for a guy with a bad back no matter how much they retain. That's a pipe dream.

Why would they want Chychrun if he also has a bit of an history injury? and he's also more offensively inclined than Edmundson, Oilers already have the offense they need, they need a shutdown dman thats got playoff history and Edmundson is that. Edmundson with his back problem is def an issue, but come tdl if he's doing fine and everything alright he should fetch a first.

I agree. I'm not interested in Chychrun and wouldn't pay the asking price for him. I don't believe Holland is overly interested either, he just kicks all the tires that are out there.

Yeah, but everyone is expecting a first for their mediocre defensemen this deadline. Ain't happening - there simply aren't enough firsts to go around.
