Habs 2023-24 projection
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rooney</b></div><div>The Habs do not have all the leverage though. "Why would they risk trading for him in the risk of him leaving after?" Sir...let me introduce you to the Trade Deadline where teams pay to have players who have no intentions of re-signing. The Jets could get a much better return for Dubois as a pure rental to a playoff team at the deadline. The MTL has all the leverage narrative just doesn't make sense.</div></div>
Sure they may not have "all" the leverage but still the return ain't gonna be what everyone expect if he's free in a year. It'll obviously won't be fair market value. Sure the value of Anderson is very debatable, but I'd bet if the habs put Anderson on the market a whole bunch of teams will be calling and they could probably get a first out of it. The Jets ain't really looking at first round pick or prospect they said it themself they want to do a quick turnaround with the core they have. And I do believe he would be a player they'd like to add. Maybe they could add something better extra idk. What woud you ask for them?

FLO paid an unprotected 1st + Ty Smilanic + 4th for two months of Chiarot
So you are telling me the Jets could get less for Dubois than Ben Chiarot lmao</div></div>
The thing is all the teams knows he wants to play in MTL, why would they risk trading for him in the risk of him leaving after?

What do you don't like about Klingberg's contract? He's only 30 y.o. and brings on average 50 points per years. Too much, too little? Also I do think one of Farell or Heinamen will make the team if not both. I really like Heineman's chance to be honest. I feel he's very close to NHL ready

The Habs have all the leverage. I know value for value it's ridiculous but it's either that are they just lost Dubois for nothing in FA. Who would have thought Patrick Kane would be only worth a 2nd ? The habs would be dumb to pay "fair" value for him at the moment when they know they can get probably get him for nothing later.

The most plausible scenario - Starting line up Game 1
I don't think it's very plausible to keep Petry when the GM literally says he's trying to trade him. Also I would be shocked if Slafkovsky doesn't start the season with Montreal. I think it's unlikely he goes to Laval. Other than that I think you are pretty much spot on with the fact there probably won't be any big moves coming. I think they will probably look at a veteran right Defenseman once they trade Petry though

MTL retool and lottery luck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>not with four more years at 3.5</div></div>
3,5M is not bad for the defenseman he was just last year. Last summer a whole lot of teams would've wanted to sign him this contract if he wouldn't want to go to his hometown team. Again it depends on if teams feel like he can find his game back. But, yeah I agree it can be a mistake to believe that but who knows what a GM can think

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangle</b></div><div>price hasn't been a top goalie in a couple years. on top of that there is both on-ice and off-ice issues. even with half retention his contract is still bad. don't see edm being interested unless someone like keith is going the other way.</div></div>
Off course this trade could only work with a well known physically and mentally healthy Price. Let's say and end up playing for Canada at the Olympics and plays very well that will raise his value by a lot. But we can't know that yet we'll see in march where he's at. I'm only assuming he will be healthy and at his true form. But Price's stats IMO are a bit skewed due to MTL defense being very poor the last few years. I do believe he's still one of the top goaltender in this league but that's a completly different argument. I know long term his contract will not look great but EDM wants to win right now and I think they'd be willing to take a sacrifice to win in the very short term. The bigger issue for me it's more of how they can make that trade financially.

Exactly every team is at one or two injury away or a big Covid outbreak to be in real trouble. The market I do believe will be very high in this year trade deadline.

Well they can only be one injury away from needing a replacement at the left side. And that is true for almost every team. I would agree though that they have a solid D core

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangle</b></div><div>$8m is still way too much. edm would be better off just flipping a 3rd for allen.</div></div>
They could but the thing is they want an upgrade in goal and Allen isn't it. And there's not a ton of very good goalies available in the market right now. The rarety of top goalies can raise Price's value. I mean I put 8M but it could be 7M or less, they'll only have to figure out how they can make that trade work. Wether is taking a long-term EDM player back or wathever. But, my point is Price definitely will have a high trade value with a more reasonable cap hit for a team that wants an upgrade in net and go far into the playoffs. I just think EDM would be the best trade partner but that's just my opinion.

I can see MTL taking a long-term contract back. But, upgrading from Koskinen/Smith to Price that as to come with a big price even if that Price contract might be an issue long term. EDM wants badly to go further in the pIayoffs for the next few years and I do believe Price could solve a lot of issue. I won't personnally ask for less than Bourgault if I were the Habs with a Price's retained salary. They'll only have to figure out how they can make that trade work financially.

Price at 8 million is very reasonable when you look at his previous playoffs success. I do believe EDM wants to get far in the playoffs this year and Price is a massive upgrade on Koskinen or Smith and that comes with a price. I think they'll be willing to bet he can stay at his top form for a few more years

I know it sounds crazy to trade Chiarot for a 1st but thats what is value will be at the trade deadline. If Savard could get a 1st last year Chiarot is definitely worth that. I picked the Rangers just cuz I feel they could use a bit more depth at LD but it could easily be any of the top contending teams. Don't put to much weight on the Rangers

Habs roster 2021-22 prediction
Danault at 6 yes, in the open market I think he will be worth that. If we offer less I have a feeling he will leave and we can't afford that. Too important for our success. And KK at 4,5 I know its a stretch but at a long term-ish deal I think it would be a good deal for both parties. I know I only put 2 years but rethinking this I think a 3-4 year deal at that price would be perfect!

The trade with Carolina doesn't make any sense. Victor Rask have way more value than Hudon. Maybe if the you swap the 2th round pick, it will make more sense.
